We were chasing the title that year! And that is a long time ago.
I mean in the Hodgson, Dalglish and early Rodgers era.

Has Teixeira got the quality to become a first team mainstay?

Definitely! And with Suso to come back , Coutinho, Teixeira and Suso will be challenging each other for a spot

You'd have to wonder about Luis Alberto though and hopefully we don't throw Will Hughes into the mix too

And people are saying we have a thin squad.

I'd say alot of our loans will come back and stay next year unless we are offered really good money for them.

I was a bag of nerves when Stevie stepped up to take the peno. Should've never doubted him though.

Delighted with that win. Also the sooner we bench Kolo the better.

Will Hughes would be further back and in competition with Hendo, Allen etc.

We do have a thin squad in places, CM is still an issue as is LB, although the addition of a winger (should we try again for Konopylanka in the summer) might mean that CM is less of a problem going forward.

Of those coming back Assaidi wont be staying (we should get what we paid back for him too), Reina will be gone too. Wisdom/Borini/Suso should be kept.

I doubt there is a regular poster on here who isn't.

I have to do a couple of sensitive interviews in work today. I really need to lose the stupid grin I have had on my face since about 9:50 last night.

Thanks to all the contributors on the match thread last night, although given the timing differences of the various streams it got a bit confusing at...it was hard at times to order the "GETINNNNNNNNNs", "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKs", "UGHs" and "YESSSSSS's" :D

I actually thought we were 3-1 down at one stage near the end but by the time I'd refreshed and deciphered the madness we had got the penalty.

Hopefully that's the last we see of Kolo for a while...seems to be a nice guy but he's a liability now. The biggest threat to our title / Top 4 challenge is probably defensive snafu's like last night

Just one other thing I noticed last night.

The ref gave Fulham a soft free with 3 or 4 minutes to go.

The camera turned to Rodgers who was going absolutely ape sh1t with the ref.

Then just behind was Aspas who was just as animated.

Considering he hasn't got much of a chance in the team and spent most of the season on the bench, i was impressed to see that the game meant alot to him.

The squad spirit in general seems to be as high as ever.

Can't believe we didn't sign Salah, without him we've no chance of getting 4th. The owners are a disgrace, the squad is threadbare and Ayre should be shot for his negotiating negligence. Cissokho should never wear the shirt again, Sterling should be loaned out and Hendo runs funny.

No messin lads, we're proper ****ed :D

I can see Assaidi staying for a season at least, I wouldn't be too sure about Reina leaving, who will want him?

Last night was actually our last midweek game of the season.

This could work to our advantage as the season goes on, plenty of rest and preparation time whilst those around us travel and play matches in Europe.

We have to push on and secure 4th now and then see what happens in the title shake-up.

Unlikely we'll do it but you never know.

Lads, should we buy Cissokho at the end of his loan? I think he has been coming on very well for us defensivly and think if the price was really low we should.

It all depends on Enrique and what else is available. He has impressed me over the last few weeks, I said it the other day, nothing gets past him defensively so if we could work on his distribution I think he would actually be a good addition in the squad.

I think Spurs and Pool can both finish in the top 4.

Will there not be week day games if we progress in the cup?

    No, we shouldn't.

In the last few games he's done ok.
He has defended well and played the simple ball.
However if this club wants to get to winning titles and Champion's leagues then it needs better.
We need someone who can pass better and offer more in attack.

All Cissokho does is play simple balls to the nearest player.

Just because he hasn't screwed up does not mean he's good enough in my opinion.

Only replays, FA cup is always at the weekend.

I've warmed to him, he has been solid defensively. He can and will improve going forward. I reckon Rodgers is happy with him and sees some potential otherwise he would have bought someone else in January. If he is available for a few million then go for it.

Oh and new thread, RODGERS OUT!!!!!

There will be changes this weekend but we'll still have a strong team.

I think we've a massive chance to beat Arsenal. From the reports it sounded like they were very tired and with Bayern around the corner, the FA cup match is the only real chance to rest players.

The only definite change I want is Agger in place of Toure. Possibly Allen in for one of Sterling or Coutinho just so we can really go and press them again.

We have no excuse not to field a good side with all the breaks we'll have over the rest of the season.

Well i was always of the opinion that you should buy a defender for his defensive ability and not his passing ability. I watched him closely last night and he was really good in defence. He always offered himself as an option on the attack aswell and seems to have a good engine in him. He went to Valencia for €5m so if he can be got for that or less then as backup i think it would be a good bit of business.

Just dropping in to say still buzzing.

Last night was a rollercoaster of emotions. We looked dire at times but had enough balls and luck to grab the win.

Starting to dream of possibilities ( even though I should know better )

But surely that would shift a league game, no?
