i ****ed up the box, i changed the screen resolution in enigma ar-p and i turned off my tv and now i have a blank screen, i booted into spark and i get a picture and i have changed the setings in a/v output in spark mode but this has done nothing for when i boot into enigma, i have also tried the scart but i get sound but no picture, i need to get into the menu on ar-p to change the settings. can anyone help

You haven't wrecked the box, so chill on that one. No panic stations yet.

Changing in spark will do nothing for enigma. You can either reflash the image through spark or I'm 99% sure that Championc has actually put up a post about resetting your resolution "blind".

Is there anyone else's tv you can bring it to for to reset it back to the resolution that suits your tv?

Search this thread for the term 'AV Settings' in posts left by championc. He gave instructions on how to change his AR-P and Hyperion images to work with HDMI or SCART cables and at different resolutions.

Another option, though I have not tested it is:
With enigma2 running FTP using Filezilla in to /etc/enigma2/settings and change this line --> config.misc.videowizardenabled=false to true i.e config.misc.videowizardenabled=true Now when you reboot into enigma2 it will run the video setup wizard and allow you to select scart.

Easiest option of course would be to just boot into Spark, and run the e2upgrade plugin to reflash a backup you may have made of your enigma2 image.

ive tried my other 2 tvs also and get the same result, blank screen. ill check the thread to see if i can find a resetting your resolution blind.

in spark u can reset your resolution blind by pressing the v-format button, but this doesnt work in ar-p mode

Im using hyperion, but they should be close enough. Try this. Turn on the box and let it fully load up, then press menu, up x 2,ok,ok,ok,down,left,ok.

Those directioms take me to and change my resolution. Hopefully the same for you

noooooooooooooooooo lol, im still trying though, ive tried lots of combos but no joy, i can hear sound but it feels like its not going into menu because i can still hear the programme, when we go to menu doesnt the sound and picture go off?

I thought the menu layout varies with different images and skins. Much quicker to re-flash the image. If OP has something specific they want to keep in existing image, do a backup first in Spark, re-flash to clean E2 and take note of menu steps, then reinstall own (wonky) image

My CrossEpg (version 0.6) has not been updating for the last few days so I removed the plugin and attempted to reinstall it but kept getting an error message. Just wondering if I should be deleting any files from var/ before I try to reinstall crossepg and if so what is the filepath? Im uusing a HDMU image from last year. Thanks.

I got it sorted, with thanks to Championc, the guy has been amazing in regards to helping me with my golden media triplex. He never seems to run out of patience.

I'm a computer illiterate and I took on something that was way over my head, in hindsight I probably should never of bought the box. But thanks to his patience and help we have the cursed box working the way it should be.

I was consistently getting green screens and it would never take to been in enigma mode. He has fixed this and shown me what other cool stuff the box is capable of.

I have also noticed how people here on this thread are so willing to support each other, its like a little community here, everyone helps each other out and seems to enjoy helping.

Thank you Championc and thanks to all the other posters here that help people like me.

The path for CrossEPG configuration file is on /var/crossepg/crossepg.config
it will contain the path to the actual CrossEPG databse (db_root). It should be your external hard drive / USB Key. You could try deleting the database files (back them up first just in case) and re-download CrossEPG manually from the menu to see if it works.

However, maybe you should give a go to either Champion's latest AR-P image or TheTechGuy's latest Hyperion 3 image. Both are quite solid and much more stable than HDMU images from last year. You can always do a backup of your current image on Spark in case you're not convinced by either image and want to go back to your old one. But I do find these images faster and far less buggy than HDMU.

Can anyone help please,

I got an AA 2 box running Hyperion 3 image & E2 2 weeks ago and everything was working great till I installed a hard drive, when I recorded 1 channel all was ok, when I recorded 2 everything goes blank, but even when the recordings finish they still all stay blank, And I need to reboot to get them back,
I thought from reading this thread it may be a faulty tuner, as I checked each cable in each tuner and they only worked in Tuner A
I brought the box back to the shop and he checked and said everything is fine, he showed me in the shop both tuners working,
So I came home connected the box and all I can now get are a few bbc's about 5 channels in total!
Tuner set up is
Tuner 3 - Dvb-t
Tuner 1 - dvb-s2 28.2e
Tuner 2 - equal to tuner 1

Signal strength is about 75% and bb speed is 2.5mbps

I'm at a loss here any help would be greatly appreciated

I was thinking of applying championc's "22Dec2013 AR-P based Image", it has got good feedback.
Anyone have any screenshots?

Just wondering is it still recommended to downgrade the spark code version as per post 2 in the firmware thread prior to applying any custom images?
Would it not be beneficial to upgrade Spark first for redundancy of OS in case championc's image goes belly up or am I missing the reason for downgrading first?

Looks like I'll have to retune saorview to Spur Hill after applying that image.
Does it matter which of these 2 options I use to do it?

You need to scan both, rte1,news now and rte1+1 are on mux2. The rest are on mux 1.just remember not to clear before scan when scanning the second mux or you will delete all the channels on mux 1

If you buy a box from Satworld.ie, I think they pre-load yhem with Hyperion but more to the point, they have the e2upgrade plugin already installed in Spark. Therefore, there would be no reason to worry about downgrading Spark.

So it should hopefully just be a case of applying your image via USB as per post #2 in the firmware thread and then rescanning saorview?

Morning all,

I got Championc's image installed and running last night.
Can anyone point me at a guide for editing the channel list in the EPG?
I only want to see FTA channels and would also like them in a certain order.

Could somebody list the things an enigma image is capable of in plain man's English. Jumping from post to post it is hard to get everything it is capable of.

I really appreciate all the help I have got since I joined the forum and I am looking forward to improving my knowledge of enigma2.

Install DreamboxEdit on your PC. Then in Pugins turn OFF the scheduled running of autobouquets (or setup AB to run doing FTA only)

Just tried to connect with Dreambox but get the following error log and no files appear on the PC.
Any idea whats happening here?

It's exactly as the program says, you have the wrong paths. It should be /etc/enigma2/

Has anyone had an issue with missing the first few minutes of recordings. Mine seems to miss the first 2-3 minutes of a low of shows.

My box is set to reboot every day around 9am, so the timer on the front of the box is not right until I put the box into standby and back on, maybe this has something to do with it?

Box is a GM Spark Triplex using TheTechGuy 's image.

Go into your record settings and check the time margin for recording before a program, try changing that by a few minutes earlier

I had set it to add 3 minutes to the end of a recording as sometimes shows run over, it's pretty rare for a show to start early though, but I'd guess it's worth throwing a few mins on the start as well. Thanks.
