How do I setup a Bulletin Board ?

I was thinking of setting up a bulletin Board on our intranet site in work
Whats envolved ?
software ?
What drives boards.ie ?

This would probably be better off on Webmaster, but in short:

BB Software (vBulletin [pay for], PHPBB2 [free], InvisionBB [free] , ... theres loads of them)

A Webserver (Apache in Boards case) with PHP and MySQL.

All this runs off a FreeBSD server in Boards.ie's case.

I'd go with one of the 'free' Bulletin Boards on MySQL and PHP on a Linux server.
