First I am as culchie as they come and proud of it. So I am well briefed on how Mr. Panti is going down outside of the D4 triangle.

Second speaking of major factual inaccuracies there is big hole in your statement re Norris. Norris was overestimated in polling same as in the SSM polls the more exposure he got and his ambivalence to his paedo boyfriend turned more off.

The more the Gay brigade shout as this so called debate runs the more people they are in turn going to turn off. Middle Ireland can't take a year and a half of this crap when the country is going down the tubes.
You're trying too hard. 6/10 could have been more credible if you had just said Panti.

There is a gay brigade! It's a selection of men and women brave enough to stand up and try as best as possible to speak for a community that is often afraid to do so for various reasons I won't list

Look the LGBT community have suffered terribly all over the world Ireland included but it isn't Uganda and homophobia is still rampant and needs to be stamped out. These people are brave as you say to stand up for justice respect and tolerance. This in turn does not confer the human right to turn on its head the definition of marriage and raising of children which deserves society's protection.

What term akin to homophobe can we use to describe what people who believe this suffer and get seriously abused for holding which a pretty regular up to a few years ago view. This is not abolition of slavery or something obvious like that don't equate it with a persecuted community under siege or anything such.

I see this being repeated constantly by the anti-SSM side, but the fact remains that the only people that tried to shut down debate were Waters, O'Brien and the Iona shower by running crying to their solicitors when the game didn't go there way. Just because you keep repeating otherwise doesn't make it true.

They were defamed end of story there. If they weren't why didn't RTE drag them through the courts they didn't since they knew they didn't have a leg to stand on. Just because you keep repeating that SSM should happen doesn't make it true either so.

See the thing is, gay men and women are already in committed relationships and already have families, but there are many legal discrepancies. All you're doing by getting in the way of this, is denying them the final link they need to legally enjoy a status they deserve. Saying "it isn't Uganda" is a silly exercise in futility. Ireland financially isn't Bangladesh. It doesn't mean people should just smile, sit back and ignore issues in the country.

You don't think it is a persecuted community under siege...? Of course it's not on the level of slavery or similar, but see my point above. We have a real chance to be at the forefront here and create a better, inclusive society amongst our peers.

Iona are homophobic, the quotes take 5 seconds to find. It's just harder to objectively prove it, as Iona would no doubt attempt to prove.

Not trying at all just how I and many others see it. Just because the Twitter feed doesn't reflect this view is where the SSM brigade will loose this referendum Bridie and Seamus will vote against it the liberal leftie in Dublin won't be registered or won't make it home down the country this referendum is lost already.

Hold it now, vote it down, move on the 400k unemployed in this country has more pressing issues at hand.

Yawn. If you don't care about it, stop talking about it. It obviously bothers you much more than you let on.

I'm a 'culchie' too, so you can give over with that Dublin leftie liberal BS.

Nope but someone thought I was some kind of ultra right wing urban dweller when I am far from that so was just setting them right. As a fellow culchie you should know it would be quite hard to believe that Seamus and Bridie down the road are going to go putting up Mr. Panti posters and they represent the majority of active voters and political party activists in FF/FG and to a lesser extent in Labour. This referendum is exactly like the Seanad referendum skewed polls over estimated support with no basis in fact and is dead in the water but the SSM lobby don't even realise it.

As a fellow culchie, with a culchie family, I think you're wrong.

My culchie uncle Padraig, in his late 60s/early 70s, for example has extended the warmest of welcomes down to his culchie farm to me and my boyfriend. And he's an immigrant!

Imagine that. Culchies aren't all backwards bigots.

Ya well I ain't no Maud Flanders but is it so left of field to maybe suggest man woman father mother figure is preferable than man man woman woman?

Is it so un PC to suggest such a crazy concept or raise concerns about this. The SSM lobby is not remotely concerned about how this experiment might impact on large numbers of children rather they are worried about having the right where no right natural or otherwise exists just it seems to stick it to those nasty straight people.

    Hey Dr Regular Joe.

Still waiting to hear what the Mammy can do that the Daddy can't and the Daddy can do that the Mammy can't when it comes to child rearing.

Think this is the fourth time I have asked you now.

Beginning to think there isn't anything hence the deafening silence.

The fact there has been at least televised three debates on the issue since renders an utter nonsense of your claims of a drag queen shut down of debate.

Preferable to who? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's 'worse'. lol, there's no 'experiment', there are same sex families in Ireland already

Using words like 'lobby' is so telling of your mindset, btw.

Well... it flies in the face of established evidence. Hell, there's at least one person on Boards who was raised by same-sex parents and they're perfectly well adjusted.

I mean if you just want to insult people at least have the cojones to come out and do it honestly instead of this mealy-mouthed waffling.

How many times do you have to be told? This has nothing to do with same sex couples raising children. They already can and do do that.

Please just admit the thought of two men having sex disgusts you and we can put some closure on what is otherwise a complete roundabout argument and a waste of time. (no, this is not 'shutting you down', you are welcome to continue ranting)

Listen, please put up or shut up. You're rabbiting on about being persecuted but you've been repeatedly asked to both explain and back up your claims and your unable or unwilling.

When the argument is so empty, the only conclusion is it's some form of prejudice.

So how about some combination of logic and evidence here. Otherwise, you're not doing much to disabuse us of the notice that anti-equality are motivated simply by prejudice.

    It's quite simple really.
There will only be ****ed up children should people continue to believe that 'different' family set ups **** children up and continue to parlay these feelings to the world around them

    Here's another.

This ones peer reviewed on the importance of the gender of parents. It concludes that the best parents are probably two women. Heterosexual parents generally scored less in terms of parental involvement. Bloody liberal agenda!

There's a wealth of knowledge on the subject and since you have a 'PhD',you should be experienced in researching your opinion rather than spouting nonsense.

If you don't want to believe that gay parents are capable parents after reading the above, you're entitled to keep your opinion, just don't expect to be taken seriously at all.
