I loved Arizona, Sedona is a beautiful town.

I think the parts of Arizona and Nevada that aren't urban are starkly beautiful. But Phoenix and Las Vegas are environmental abominations - Phoenix in particular.

    Flagstaff, pretty mountain town
    Williams, historic train town
    Jerome, cool former ghost town
Winslow, bit of a dump with one of the greatest hotels in the US in it.
Tombstone, utterly amazing place. Walking into saloons that have barely changed since Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson walked into them.

    and then there's Phoenix. :D

Maine is the only state with one syllable in its name.

Alaska has the most easterly point in the USA!

Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Indiana, both Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana, Wisconsin, Minnesota are all forgettable dumps. Basically any place that's not coastal or deep south. I hate rednecks but Dixieland has a bit of character and I like the black people from there. The desert states like Texas, Nevada, Arizona are crap too.

Nevada has Las Vegas, Arizona has the Grand Canyon and Texas has an identity all of its own.

I'm sure it is a lovely place, once your happy to tolerate more rain than what Ireland gets.

People know Cali, some know Seattle.

I'd say many would not be able to name what's in between.

I think N. Dakota is getting a raw deal on this threa, for me its on of the most interesting politicaly. By some american standards its almost a "communist" state it has a state owned bank and milling industry. Farms also cannot be owned by corporations or banks, making repossesions almost impossible.
In spite of this its got the lowest unemployment and a growing economy, oh and Fargo was set there.

Yeah, the OH and I have been talking about moving to Portland, but I don't know if I can take the weather. Apparently they get 30% more rain than Dublin. :(

That said, it's way cheaper than living in California and Oregon is an interesting state politically. Plus they produce lots of delicious wine. :)

Fargo was set in Minnesota. Quite a distinctive accent they have up there...

Also a lot of employment opportunities in the oil fields. Good place to spend a year or two in and make some decent money.

State of Franklin, so $hit it no longer even exists!

    Isn't Franklin now Tennessee?

As far as forgettable...considering it's probably one of the only ones not listed here, I'm gonna go with Oklahoma.

Indeed it is Minnesota that dominates, but parts were shot in North Dakota, and the Fargo in question (where the hit-men are hired) is in North Dakota as well, so there is a bit of a North Dakotan claim on it.

    No votes for Florida?

Florida is about twice the size of the island of Ireland, but its highest point is only 345ft.

Though it does have some interesting wildlife...

Between South Beach, Disneyworld, and hanging chads, it's kind of hard to forget about Florida. I'd guess that is one of the few states that most non-Americans may actually be familiar with.
