That's like saying I live in the centre of the city I knew this moving in yet I want the streets cleared of people as they annoy me.

Most of the people close to Croke park have lived there for decades, They would have lived there when there were NO concerts in croker.

I've been to croke park on busy days more times than I can remember and I have never seen a reason why a firebrigade or emergency vehicle couldn't get to a house.

I agree but if you paint the worst scenario it will help with your compo claim.

I don't understand this compaint at all tbh.

I'm sorry but I refuse to believe that in an emergency situation access in and/or out of the area would be denied.

I doubt very much wether you've been on every road in the vicinity. I can assure you it happens on every occasion.

Heard the guy who's the head of the residents association on the radio,he sounds like he's from NI.Him of all people should be used to being barricaded into his home as stuff he doesn't like goes on outside during the Summer.;)

It is not denied, the parking makes it impossible. As for the idiot who mentioned compo, compo will not do anything to solve the problem. As I've already stated, large parking facilities outside the city and a bus service in would completely solve that problem.

Of course I get that. Do you get that the people who paid to go to those 5 concerts do like that band/artist playing?

I just really don't get why a few peoples personal dislike of an artist should prevent others enjoying that artist?
    .

I am sure that if Led Zep got back together supported by the original line up of The Doors that I would be pissed off by the 5th night....
Nights 1 and 2 would be great though.

He's not saying that at all.

To be fair, thats exactly what he is saying

I don't think it's anything to do with parking. That would be more of an inconvenience to those attending than to the residents, as parking around Croke Park has always been a problem (and the local youths always had a nice little sideline in 'protecting' your car on match-day).

The complaints will be a combination of people with legitimate concerns about noise, anti-social behaviour etc, and no doubt a few people who won't be that inconvenienced and are just moaning to see what they can get out of it.

I can see both sides of this. I have tickets to one night, parents going to another. I also have an elderly uncle living on clonliffe avenue.

I wouldn't like to see the concerts cancelled, but, I do think the residents are getting a very raw deal here. My uncle, like many of his neighbours, live in what has been the family home since about 1925-1930 or so... Claiming they shouldn't have decided to live there is ridiculous, they (and their families) have lived there since it was the outskirts! They're going to have 400,000 people having the craic outside their HOMES. They'll be blocked in, emergency access won't be there, people will piss in their gardens and leave their litter everywhere. Old people will be terrified and thats not an exaggeration. And while the GAA and Garth brooks make their money, they get a few tickets to raffle between themselves. Wonderful.

I think a fair solution would be to give residents parking permits and operate a strict tow-away-immediately policy for non-permit vehicles, provide ample security along every road in the area to prevent the anti-social behaviour, find somewhere to operate a park and ride system for concert go-ers, plenty of litter patrols every day and then when it's all over, have a party for the residents. Some food and drink, bouncy castle for the kids and a decent donation to the community centre. Croke park KNOW the issues that arise and its well within their ability to seriously reduce these problems. Yet time and time again, they don't address them. I can only presume that anyone who can't see the side of the residents has never been in or near the area during a sell-out event, or was too drunk to notice what was going on.

MY complaint (and many of my neighbours)is about parking, so yes, there ARE complaints about parking.

Are you parking in the street or on your own property?

What has that got to do with anything? The issue is bad parking making access impossible for emergency vehicles, but just to satisfy your curiosity I have a driveway.

Organisers are not ruling out a sixth night according to the Irish Independent....

...and donate any profits to the neighbours of Croke Park as a goodwill gesture.

    Can't see that happening.

Five days is simply too much to ask of the residents. Three is the maximum allowed without extra applications and that should be adhered to. I honestly think Aiken will either have to dig deep into their pockets for the residents or see one of the gigs cancelled.

I live beside croke park. My house practically faces Hill 16. I love the buzz the excitement when there is an event on. Match days are great with all the colour in the area. I have no objection to 3 concerts going on. Now thats three in total for the year.

I dont finish work till after 6 collect my little lad and head home. The area will be in lock down. I wont be able to get my car in. I wont be able to sleep with 5 nights of sh1te blaring through my windows never mind the 3 nights of One Erection.
My 1 year old will be kept awake while the GARDA chopper hovers overhead for an hour or more after the gig.
I will have to stand in my garden to stop those at the concerts using it as a place to take a p1ss on the way out. Or as my neighbour had during Take That one fella thinking it was great craic to p1ss in his letter box.
When it was reported to the Gardai they were too busy to act.

These are just some of the things I will have to put up with.

Ye will all come enjoy ur few hours with Garth "Bucks" and trundle off home quite contented but I'll have an irate 1 yr old who cant sleep. I'll be wrecked tired each day at work. I wont be able to come and go freely from my home... yes MY HOME where I and my family should feel safe and comfortable at all times.

As I said I have no problem with 3 gigs maybe 4 a year hey its a stadium thats what they do. BUt now they're pushing towards 9... sorry thats a bit over the top.

Next week I'm going to the stadium Directors house to blare music in his windows till all hours take a sh1t in his garden and prevent him or his kids from moving safely and freely in their community!!!

I lived in the area myself and had no issues and havnt seen what you mentioned. The clampers are around during events too. Blocking access should not be an issue with all the gardai around too.

What's your point? You lived on a street it didn't happen in, I live on one that it does, at every busy event in Croker. Are you saying I'm imagining it? It has been going on for years, and in fairness DCC have tried a couple of things so far, but during an event the Gardai and clampers are in reality much too busy to deal with it all the time. As soon as they tow one, another replaces it.

most of these people are living here since childhood, so they should have a say in what goes on

If you wanna live beside an 80,000 seater stadium

Youre gonna have a bad time

This reminds me of rathcoole residents complaining about the noise of planes and helicopters taking off and landing at baldonnel aerodrome and demanding the aircorp reduce all activities to suit there needs ,

Wonder what all the local businesses who probably see a huge increase in the taking on concerts days think of a blanket ban on events

Croke Park is about a 15 minute walk from the City.

Dublin has good public transport. What's the problem with more buses and trains? And there will be.

In fact, you can register your interest on irishrail for more trains on the day of the gigs.

    http://www.irishrail.ie/cat_news.jsp?i=4985&p=116&n=237

I dont see an issue regarding transport. Surely anyone that bought tickets and plan on driving would realise that parking would be a b!tch and leave the car at home.

There must be some park and ride places up there too. Park the car and get a bus.

As for litter, we're not all dirty bunch of idiots. If I cant find a bin, I always put my rubbish into my bag until I do.

And im certainly not going to be dropping my pants to wee on someone's lawn and with 80000 people passing me.

And im not going to get drunk and causing havoc. So we're not all drunken idiots.

    5 nights, so what?

What do people expect, they cancel their flights, hotels, etc.

Where else can they hold a concert for 80000 people for five nights ?

Thomand park holds something like 25000 people.

Would he not have to play 16 nights to satisfy 400000 fans. Thats ok pass on the problem.

How many times in the last 20 years has a house gone on fire or someone needed emergency services and failed to get the assistance they needed due to a match in croker or a concert?

Unless you are going to bed extremely early I can't see how your sleep will be effected as there won't be music played passed 11pm. As for a 1 year old, a child of that age would sleep anywhere I doubt it would keep them awake.

And anyway it's only for a few days, people have no tolerence to any inconvenience anymore. Will a couple of days in work feeling tired really bother you that much or extra traffic around.

From what I have seen residents are not prevented from driving to their homes either multiple cars are let passed the barriers anytime I'm walking to Croke park.

Some of the comments against the residents are ridiculous.

I'd go absolutely mental too if I had to witness 5 days of Smithwick's chugging denim-clad good'ol'boys and gals having a raucous knee-slapping time.

Can't believe the amount of tickets this geezer sold anyway. Oh well, everyone to their own I guess.

What if you are living there since the 60's and there was only a few GAA matches player per year.

We're not living in the 60's. Move with the times.
