You've little to be worrying about.

Every news channel has an agenda.

Their small budget is a big factor.

Unless you are in the UK why is it relevant? Anglicized?

I can't think of a less biased news channel than the BBC. People who accuse them of bias are usually quite extreme in their views.

The BBC, depending on your viewpoint its either a bastion of old school conservatism and middle England privilege, or else its full of socialist do-gooders with an underlying Trotskyite agenda.

Its probably doing quite a lot right if its politics pleases no-one.

That's why they have Newsnight over on BBC2 Or look at their News Channel or the stuff on Radio 4. try http://www.bbc.co.uk/news or the app

Channel 4 also do good news.

Similar to RTE - seen as really liberal and right-on... or else really conservative and careful in what it reports. IMO it's neither.

The OP is right. The BBC news has badly declined. They make TV3 look good. But it's fair to say they're not alone. A lot TV journalism has gone downhill in terms of it's depth. If you ask me they're living off their reputation. You get more depth on After Hours for heaven's sake and more truth!

A while ago I was abroad and the only English speaking channel on TV was the BBC world news. It was awful. I ended up watching the foreign language channels.

    I quite like BBC News.

Sometimes I even watch BBC Parliament channel. Grand for passing an hour and hearing about some really small mundane stuff.

    Each to their own.

Oh my gosh, I can't disagree more OP. It's a fantastic news channel. The reporting while not flawless is generally always of a very high standard. The newscasters and reporters are engaging and usually knowledgeable on current affairs while Sky News I find to be incredibly trashy.

No disseminator of news is going to please everyone but I have to doff my hat to them and say it's a fantastic channel.

I think it leans left , so does RTE but RTE is far more establishment friendly than the BBC imo , rte is socialist but in a mary Robison way , sitting in the good seats while pontificating about hunger in Africa

    Off topic...

You were abroad and would watch ANYTHING on telly, rather than get out and experience the country you were visiting? Seriously?!?

Each to their own, I suppose...

its further left than ryan giggs.....the interviews are utterly biased and the 10 oclock news interviews are pitiful....additonally they edit the hell out of everything and tony robinson rewrites the political agenda every night. nothing is really in depth and certain sections of society are never investigated. the endless cover ups too. we can only imagine the corruption the back scratching that goes on behind closed doors

Yep, "imagine" indeed. Real hotbed of corruption and backscratching is the BBC. Whatevz.

Someone saying the BBC has an extremely leftist agenda is what someone with a right-wing agenda would say. The BBC is very much unbiased.

It is certainly not the worst but it has slipped from its previous high standards. These guys do a good job of calling them out on certain issues from a hard left viewpoint http://www.medialens.org/

Can you imagine Jeremy Paxman interviewing Bertie Ahern? You could sell tickets for that.

Still can't believe the OP is complaing about is.

They have the choice of Rte, TV3 and TG4. As they have the UK channels, they'll also have BBC, ITV and maybe Sky or others.

Surely one of those can satisfy their news requirements?
