Should I set the HDR1000S to output 1080i (the default setting) and then let my Full HD 1080p Samsung do the conversion to 1080p?

Also how do I change the UK postcode? Do I need to restore factory settings?

Compare on SD and HD moving satellite images, especially text scrolling across screen.

If the Samsung can display 1080i natively that may result in slightly sharper HD scrolling text as most HD transmission is 1080i
Your Sat receiver converts 576i (all SD) to 576p before rescaling to 1080p and then converting to 1080i if 1080i only mode selected. Some receivers can let you select an "as is" HDMI mode where the sat receiver doesn't rescale or de-interlace at all. If there is this mode the TV chip may be better at rescale and de-interlace.

Test all the settings with different channels to see which looks best on moving pictures. All systems do static or slow moving pictures pretty perfectly.
