R50 ceiling bulb replacement suggestions

We have recessed lights (x6) on the kitchen and are continuously replacing bulbs :mad:. The bulbs tend to run really hot and I think this is the problem. I'm looking to replace the bulbs with 'cooler' energy efficient bulbs. The thing is we would like a softer but somewhat bright light so not sure if to choose led or…
