I know men who have been attacked, they are heterosexual, if they had been homosexual, it would have been put down as a homophobic attack.
That is just how it goes, some people feel like victims for something that might not necessarily be the case.
Trust me, you know if it was a homophobic attack or a random one. I've been attacked randomly at times when I know it was just a bunch of idiots, but I also know when it was specifically targeted at me for some reason.

Can't tell if trolling or really this unpleasant.

You're just being factitious now. No one is suggesting that all attacks against homosexuals are homophobic attacks however if the reason for the attack is the person's sexuality, then yes, that is a homophobic attack.

I was reading the comments posted about Paddy Manning and was replying to that, I missed VinB last night but I read one post where it says he was attacked, but he did not deem it to be homophobic and it seems he was deemed wrong in saying that according to one person at least.

    Here is a mad idea.

The debate is available on Tv3's player. Why don't you actually watch it and then comment...

    I'll be honest. Paddy sounds like he is one of these people who is so desperate to affiliate with a particular political label that he will play down his own experiences and try to discredit himself, to gain attention and pats on the backs from his 'friends'. Just got to quote this again because of how excellent it is, and it relates to anyone who tries to fit their views into a nice neat political label;

@strictlyobiter: Depressing how some gay ppl think they must be a plus royaliste que le roi social conservative to gain acceptance by those they esteem #vinb

You are holding a discussion on something you haven't even watched. If you watch it, it'll only help you out.

No. You should actually know what you are talking about.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

So all gay people have to be put in a box that is named liberal?

My point is, if the state was directly involved, they wouldn't be acting so fast to bring people in to hearings.
The irony is they would have their senior counsel telling them to fight the case and then eventually lose...

That's not what I said. Please don't misinterpret me like that. I think it was fairly obvious what I meant.

I think the answer is yes, otherwise replying to what people post here means they can't be believed and they themselves have made it up.

But it does seem from the gay lobby, that all gay people have to be liberal, have to be pro-SSM or they are somehow ostracised given how Paddy Manning is treated for opposing it.

The Gay Lobby is closed due to flooding.

We have all moved to the Gay Amphitheatre.

I don't have time to watch TV.

I watched about 2 hours of TV in the last week, due to work, visiting hospital, sleep and looking after myself.

I made a very clear point, that it was my impression that people like Paddy is discrediting his own experience as a gay man, to aspire for acceptance and credit from a specific group he esteems. I hate this conservative vs liberal stance, it is so close minded and just detracts from the argument. Why not give your own opinion on something? Why do you claim homophobia doesn't exist even when you acknowledge it exists?

Then I suggest you move onto a different subject because you're not really equipped to discuss this one. You better get off Boards too, all that idle time.

Then it makes it very difficult for us to discuss the contents of a TV programme with you.
