Is it wrong that I don't like slammed stems? I think a couple of spacers is more aesthetically pleasing.

I think it depends on the bike. If it already has a very tall headtube then it can look ugly with extra spacers. But as long as it's done for the right reasons (aka correct fitting) it's fine with me. If it's just for show off and you can't really use that position then it's stupid and you end up sitting as a sail on the bike to compensate this.

I would argue that metal bottle cages have no place on this bike and ruin it's otherwise lovely looks.

I would disagree and argue that the metal cages create an interesting triangle by matching the brakes which offsets the use of red in the triangular formation of saddle/TT area to fork to chainstay. Bold at the very least.

I politely disagree. I have those ugly cages in a box somewhere because they're ugly. A nice set of carbon cages would like perfect on there.

I'd tend to agree. But their ability to measure power overwhelms my aesthetic sensibilities.

Dura-ace SRM cranks would soothe both though.

I really like the Cannondale cranks, but wouldn't be gone on the cages at all. If I had cages like those I wouldn't even keep them in a box, I would throw them out.

But someday, somehow I might use them.

Same goes for the derailleurs, bits of chain, stems etc that keep the cages company in the box.

The silver Elite Ciussi aluminium bottle cage is all you could need. And for under £5...

I had Ti bottle cages in a bike - took em off.

They leave horrible marks on the bidons.

Yep, it's taken them a long time but they got there in the end.

Also, I think the grey metal cages look the business. They're basically like saying "my bike is the s**t, I don't even need to bother with nonsense like carbon cages"

Politely disagree. There are too many cheap plastic (ugly fake carbon cages) on bikes these days. Give me a pair of king titanium cages anyway.
