Well the "word" is that he wants to go 100% to win it, so why not.

    That's a good bet

If you ask me I think Tyrone and Mayo are the ones who would really like to win it, it would be a great confidence boost for either.

Westmeath, Derry, Kerry, Cork and Kildare will not be good enough to win it.
Dublin may or may not be that interested in winning it.
    That leaves Mayo and Tyrone.

Umm, I dont know, I think Dublin will aim to do it all again, reading about their pre season training and vibes out of the camp they are determined not to do a Donegal.
Though they didn't do too well in the O'Bryne cup!

Winning four national titles on the trot is a big ask, I'd imagine the 2014 league title would be the lesser of their ambitions for this year and thus the one that is expendable

I'd expected them to be in the top 4 but not sure how committed they would be in a semi final or final.

Yer U21s lost 2-08 to 2-10 to Tipp in the Hastings Shield final today. After we play the Trimmers next weekend all roads lead to Castlebar in March.

It was our first dabble in the competition (under new management too) and we therefore would have had a fairly steep learning curve in getting ourselves organised to compete with teams like yourselves and Cavan who are old hands in this competition.
I think the experience gained will help us big time. A lot better than last year where we had a few half arsed challenge matches before meeting a Galway team that already had a competitive game under their belt. Last years panel could have been AI contenders and a bit like the minors, I think that there was a case that Galway, Mayo and Roscommon were closely matched. Good signs all round for Connacht football.

I know Mayo haven't played in the Hastings cup of late but didn't they beat Tyrone around 2001 when Kevin McStay was manager? Galway only play challenge games before the U21 championship and it doesn't seem to do them any harm.

To be honest I think this could be a short enough season for us at Under 21 level. A few very good players in there but a few weak links too - Connacht will be very competitive and I'm not expecting us to be the team to emerge from the province. I think the more important thing is to get the couple of standout lads playing with the seniors during the league.

Yes, Mayo have a strong history in the Hastings cup (that 2001 game you mention was a cracker for the time of year), but for whatever reason we gave it a miss for a few years. I'm glad we're back involved though.

How did Evan Regan play in the Hastings? Better he can build up confidence n concentrate on u21 Think he will be featuring in summer Not the same player now that he is so much more physical Can go more direct at defenders

Good win for Kiltane today. That's them through to the final in two weeks time.

Congrats to Kiltane, i think they are good enough to win All Ireland title.

He only started two of the four games, just played one half v Longford scored 1-1 and he played a full game v Offaly scored 2-3

For what its worth I don't believe he had the flu either and I don't think anybody else does. Just making the point that I don't understand carrying an injured player on the panel all year.

Interesting to see that Freeman went on team holiday. Don't think that Richie Feeney did though.

    thats not true.

sorry mick didn't realise you were directly involved. I know what you mean I have a list myself and have had to change it many times, the most recent change today as I had the now Roscommon/Leitrim vs mayo/ny down on my list the other way round. :D for a home match (and on the 14th)!

Tell me about it! Its easy to get confused with all the dates. The maddening thing though was the week before the first FBD match they announced the time as 7.30. Of course I was straight on the case and put it up as a change of time. Midwest and some of the papers also had it at 7.30. I was then told I was wrong and it was never changed to 7.30, thought I was going mad (er) in my old age. Checked back and they did indeed announce it as 7.30. When I pointed this out I never got a reply. A lot of people missed the first half of that match:mad:

Had a panic attack on the night myself so erred on the side of caution and made sure I was seated before 7. We can only do our best mick:D

Are tickets on general sale for this? Looked at ticketmaster.ie and tickets.ie and not listed on either. Will be coming up from Waterford and don't want to turn up and be turned away as it is all ticket and sold out.

A few of the papers are saying that Parsons will partner AOS in midfield. Big opportunity for him if that's the case.

No tickets on sale. You should be fine.

Who knows but the team will give it 100% once again and the support will be there to see them win, lose or draw. That is guaranteed. Not every county can say that - especially after losing two finals in a row.
