I was just thinking about this....

If I was to say something like "that Frada chap is a smug b- " Id get banned right away no questions asked.

But if I wanted I could talk about how much of gob****e ryan tubbs is or make jokes about Mary Harney having one too many mcdonalds and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Just wondering is it basically you can attack someone so long as they arent members? Or if Bertie signed up would that mean all the moaning about him would have to be stopped? :D

Simple attack the post not the poster...

The reason you'd get banned is no so much to protect frada's feelings but to stop a back and front flame war between posters.

If you try and rationalise mods enforcing rules

You're gonna have a bad time.

What if the poster is a tool?

Even greedy corrupt politicians have feelings.

    And cash.

If you put yourself in the public eye its expected you will be criticised but if you post on a public forum you shouldnt expect to be personally abused for expressing your opinion no matter how unpopular it may be ,argued with yes, but not personal attacks

Ryan Tubridy should sign up to Boards so. Then whenever people called him a twat or whatever, he could just report them for personal abuse.

You just have to phrase it right, like the tabloids do.

' A source close to Billy Boy has confirmed that Billy Boy is a knob'

He would be one busy twat.

He'd end up becoming a Mod in the Health & Fitness forum advising others how to lose weight and simultaneously look like a spanner...

Why would anyone abuse Ryan? The man is a prince!

Mary Harney jokes are very 2005,

But isn't/wasn't Dave mcSavage a poster that gotta tons of abuse cos he's an utter twat? He was ripped to shreds, so trollable...

    I understand that completely.

Just the point I was getting at was that there is a lot personal attacks on people (be they celebs/politicions/criminals/eccentrics etc) on here and thats fine.

But direct that same attack at a member and suddenly you are in trouble.

So Im just thinking of all these celebs etc were to sign up that would be the end of it.... wouldnt it?

Frada is a real person though, everyone knows Ryan Tubridy is a robot, powered on RTE licence money and souls sapped from his audience every Friday night.

Boards.ie is a discussion forum and the discussion part of that would be crippled if everyone were to be permitted to abuse each other - in fact, such a rule would itself be abused.

I think this is pretty self-explanatory to be perfectly frank.

Am I the only one who hasn't a clue who or what Frada is? :pac:

We used to kick the sh!t out of the Mods in Brighton in the '60s, but we're all friends now. They're alright, in a Curehead-sort of way.
