Not at all, would only change Ozil and Lukaku! More than happy I wildcarded when I did, just annoyed that I listened to advice here RE Yaya/Silva the following week! My own choice to follow it though, and of course my own choice to dump Ade.

Tbh I think you're just saying that to save face.

You played your wildcard and the next gameweek had to take a 4 point hit. That, for me, is a huge sign of a wildcard failure. Anyone who has the chance to change their whole team without a points deduction but then needs a hit the week after hasn't used the wildcard right IMO.

You've also used the wildcard which should give you a quick points boost yet you've fallen 5k places. For example, I haven't used my WC, have had two of my worst weeks of the year, yet you've only outscored my team by ten points in the two GWs. I've also only fallen 3k places to your 5k.

Anyone can have a bad gameweek even with the best players but two GWs of 600k and 800k isn't good after a wildcard.

You mention above only changing Lukaku and Ozil, yet you started the GW23 transfers thread declaring an interest in Boruc. There's also the chance that Coleman could be gone for a considerable period.

I told you at the time that playing the wildcard too early was your downfall last year and I think it could well be again this year.

They're just points I'd make to anyone on here. Every time I see people who have used a wildcard mention a 4 or 8 point hit I chuckle.

I hope it won't happen me next week but if it does I'll at least admit I got it wrong.

I played my wildcard the first week it was available and don't regret it (except for getting Ozil, the useless cretin! :p).
Even if you play a late wildcard, the players you get in could get injured the next week. So I don't think you can really use that as a stick to beat people with. Whether it's better to use it early or late is largely down to luck, budget and potentially important transfers.

Using your wildcard early or late shouldn't really matter too much. It's more about the decisions you make when you use it and how great the need to use it is.

I'll straight up admit I played mine too early. I'm gonna have to make a bunch of changes over this week and next to get it right.

100% agree there is no right or wrong time. I played mine straight away as was always the plan. Like yourself not entirely happy with ozil but will stick with him for 2 more Gws, apart from that Im happy so far. A lot that havent played their wildcard have taken point hits, I havent taken any since wildcard and Im sure most havent. The key thing for me with the wildcard was to leave the money for a 1 transfer move to aguero which I did

I'd have to disagree. I always find using it late a good advantage. There can be alot of change in teams throughout January. For example, two weeks ago people weren't aware Lukaku's playing time would be under threat from the Traore signing.

Several people in my personal leagues rather naively IMO planned their wildcards without taking Aguero into account. The only way for them to get him in now is through hits.

Of course, the injuries can happen but I was picking up on Rory's comment that he only wants to change 2 players. He has mentioned changing another and may be forced into changing Coleman. This is after he already took a 4 point hit last week.

Is that to do with playing the wildcard early or just making the wrong decisions or being unlucky with injuries?

Are you playing yours this week or holding out till the very last??

Have mine in play at the minute and hoping not to make a balls of it.

Have went with this week after two very poor weeks. I had hoped to hold out but I assessed it and couldn't see the reason too.

For me, I won't be dropping Mannone, Mert, Coleman (unless crocked), Terry, Ward, Hazard, Yaya, Lallana, Aguero and Suarez. That's 10 of my fifteen. So only really five places are up for grabs in my team, and two if those are a cheap non playing mid (unless stuck) and defender.

I'm gonna end up with 4 new mids keeping only hazard. Cracked and will get Yaya for silva, and decided to do Eriksen to Cabaye before the transfer rumours really cranked up. Hoping he'll stay though. Had to ship Walcott and had already dumped Ravel.

Mostly it's getting in Ozil that I regret. It was a choice between him or having Lallana and Eriksen in instead of Ozil and Sterling. Plus, I need to buy in Aguero. Had the money set aside for him, but I waited a week longer than I should have--erred on the side of caution, I suppose. So I have a bunch of changes to make over the next two weeks. Granted, I have two FTs this week, so I'll do a third and lose the -4.

    Swiper the sh*tstirrer!

@Lemlin - this is the only time I'll be replying to you this season. Stop commenting on my posts. I don't like you, and I don't care what your thoughts are on my team. You would think a week ban would have taught you a lesson.

    Oh maaaann!!:o

Couldn't help it at the time, apologies to all concerned parties.

As an aside, I put someone from here on ignore last year because they seemed to be following my posts with dumb smartarse comments, I couldn't bring myself to ignore them though, I had to log in without my username to see it.

That's fine but it doesn't make any of my points less valid.

I'll just say this Lemlin and Rory. Any other mod and ye would have probably gotten forum bans long ago. I know the cmods are far less

Lemlins post was fair enough. Swiper don't do that again (that goes for everyone). Rory, Lemlin can reply to your posts in any manner he wishes so long as he abides by the rules.

    Please ignore them.

I can't begin to express how close both you are to a forum ban. Ignore each other.

I have to do this - ie. an 8 point hit.

Didn't get Aguero and it's f*cked me completely. Plus I didn't put a plan to easily get Aguero in. Plus I picked Nastasic, and he's not playing. Plus, although he's done well in the last 2 weeks, Gerrard is playing a new defensive role.

But I'm gonna hold my hand up, admit I f*cked it up, and take the 8 point hit this week and try and get back on track. Aguero is simply a must have IMO. Luckily I banked my transfer from last week.

So out goes Coleman, Nastasic, Gerrard and Welbeck.
In comes Brown, K. Toure, Januzaj, and Aguero.

(Kolo, this is a bit of a punt, not sure how long he will get his game. Not sure who to go for in defence, have 9.2 for 2 defenders. Of course if I'd done this yesterday I'd have 9.5 due to price changes.)

That's where I hope to gain an extra lead on a few. Several in my leagues played their wildcard two weeks ago and haven't budgeted for Aguero.

I think this will hinder them in the long run. He's a necessity IMO. Who are the rest of your defenders? Ward from Palace is great value and just above 4 million.

I'm with you on this. Those that played an early WC with no plan to bring Aguero in screwed up royally. Only my PL leader has him in. The others challenging for top spot didn't bring him in and now can't afford him. It will cost them probably a mil extra and plenty of points hits.

Already have Ward. Also have Chester (which is something else I'll have to deal with) and Sagna.

So I'm about have a pretty low budget defence when this is done. But my team value is very low and as I say, I think Aguero is a must have.
