You should try it, it's fun. Everything in moderation though. No different to anyone getting pissed.

Each to their own but it's not for me and personally I wouldn't date someone who was into any illegal drugs.

They are illegal for all the wrong reasons. But fair enough, whatever you're into.

'Drunk' and 'High' fall under the same category, but that's a discussion for another thread!

I don't find drunk men a turn on either though

    ABORT ABORT ABORT ABORT!

I'd be gutted if this wonderful thread dissolved into the old 'drugs are bad m'kaaay?' discussion!

Like I said, there's plenty of threads on boards discussing that very subject...but we're having too much fun here, so let's keep it on topic!

I know, but from personal experience that particular topic has the potential to get people fired up and everyone ends up banging their heads off brick walls!

    Such as here ;) - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=88544459#post88544459

    Anyway, back to it!

Turn off - I'm not a big fan of high heels. Yes ladies, you do look gorgeous and it makes you stand more elegantly and makes you taller than me...but it's obviously quite difficult and after a few drinks it's an accident waiting to happen! Nothing very sexy about seeing gaggles of girls in bare feet, heels in hand, staggering home at 3am

A big turn off would be having to watch Jeremy Kyle on the sky plus before bed and eating taytos.

Oh no... i couldn't agree less, high heels or stilettos especially on women are a major turn on! But only if the woman wearing them has good calves to go with them! Whatever those types of shoes do to a woman's foot, (whatever way it distorts them ha) really shows of any definition in a woman's leg and toned legs are on top of my list way above boobs or bums! Long, smooth, toned legs mmmmm... :)

That's another thing i really like actually, tall women! being tall myself i can appreciate a girl with a bit of height but the celtic genes have blessed the majority of women over this way with a smaller stature!

Turn off: girls spitting! Just back from walking the dog, noticed this woman out power-walking on the other side of the street. Good looking, nice figure too. Next she hocked a big dirty greener right onto the footpath

    Horrible cnut!

Well I like it obviously, but it wouldn't be a big deal what music someone else is into. It's like some men are mad into football and its just one of those things that women put up with whenever there's a match on. I doubt there's that many people who only like chart music though. It just seems like a really trivial thing to be a turn off, but that's just me.

Jaysus of all the trivial shyte mentioned on this thread and you choose MUSIC! ;) In reality though, I've never come across a fella I liked who didn't like decent music, so it's never been an issue. Let's say it's more of a turn on than an actual turn off (if they didn't).

Can we stop the bickering please!

You don't get to choose what's ok to turn someone else on and what's not.

I like this thread, I want to keep liking it.

    Music.

    And books.

And both: "I never should have said / The books that you read / Were all I loved you for."

Turn on: a guy that will disagree with me on certain things and we can debate them or joke about the others opinions without it coming across as judgemental or trying to change the others opinion. Not making much sense here!

But one guy I was dating agreed with every single thing I said, from the trivial like my favorite pizza topping to more wider serious issues such as abortion or whatever. He'd give his opinion on something and then if I gave my opinion that was different straight away he'd say "oh yeah that's what I meant", it was so frustrating, I'd even say it to him that its ok to have your own opinions its not like I'll judge you or leave you because you don't find my favorite film funny.

Jaysus, he sounds a bit wet! Eager to please?

I think I've identified this very issue as to why I'm single, I have no problem whatsoever with giving my own opinion on something, and it's caused a bit of friction in the past because I really do not see the point in wasting air saying anything other than what I mean!

I come across as arrogant, when in fact i'm just sure of what I think...people don't know what to make of it...just because I have an opinion on something does not mean I expect you to to have the same one!

Example: you know how a lot of us come out with this standard 'how are you' greeting? Well, if i'm not ok or feeling a bit sh1te that day, I will actually say 'nah, bit tired/bored/pissed off or whatever......and you should see the reactions I get sometimes, most people truly do not expect me to say anything other than 'OK'.

The problem with being honest, eh? It's not self-pitying and i'm not looking for sympathy either, I'm telling it like it is! Well, they did ask!!!

    !

All that is a good thing to me! A guy who knows his own mind is the sexiest thing to me, not someone who agrees with everything you say, you spend enough time in your own company with your own thoughts so the whole point of being with someone else is that they are different to you as far as I'm concerned.

I do the honest answer to the how are you too, mainly just to see if they listen to the answer or not, the amount of people who say "ah thats good" when you say pretty **** in an upbeat tone!

This attitutde seems really bizarre to me tbh. It's like if you met someone who is really attractive, in good shape, has a great personality and then they turn around and say, "I'm a heavy metal fan." Would that be an instant turn off? I can't say it would bother me at all. No more so than a girl who is into kayaking or poetry. Dismissing someone based on their taste in music is just bonkers imo.

I've got a group of friends that are big into heavy metal, they are an amazing bunch. But what I don't like about some of them is that they can get very judgmental when it comes to other people's music taste. I've always been more of a rock chic but lately I really enjoy alternative more and have always loved chanson and some classics and when I dance I need good beats, so it's either some current pop craze or Latin music. They used have a very mixed opinions about me from what I've heard. When a couple shares an interest in music I think of it as a great bonus. It's true that for some people it might be more significant. I am very "tolerant".
On the contrary I went for a couple of dates with a guy, who was into rap. That only. Now I don't mind some of it but I surely can't be listening to it all day, it'd drive me nuts. It didn't work out because I've found out that we didn't like the same books, movies and scene in general. But I remember thinking (for the first time ever) that the music preference was a bit of a red flag :(

Arrgh, THAT! If you're not interested then don't bother asking! Use 'Hello' for greeting not 'How are ya?'! I give all sorts of answers to this and the reactions are quite amusing :D
I'm known as brutally honest among my friends. (it can be as trivial as: "I know you like the dress but ye look like a sausage in it, don't buy it.")
I was never told I come across as arrogant, although I'm sure that over the years somebody have thought so. My job taught me to be diplomatic so maybe I found the balance. But can't stand any bullsh1t.
