What now for RFC's Mr Fury?

    5YYRb2.jpg

Pretty much every time i click in here (which is admittedly becoming less frequent) you're talking about Rangers. Why?

John Guidetti, a player we were linked with as a loan in the summer, has joined Stoke. I'd expect him to score a good few goals. Sick we never got him.

Welcome to Celtic Stefan. I think the idea of trying to get a few guys in this month so they have time to settle in before the champions league early round games next July is a smart move. It takes most players some time to settle in especially when moving to a new country and league. Hopefully Johansen will prove to be a big hit once he gets going along maybe the lines of Lustig who also joined originally in a previous January window.

Hopefully, they bring him up to speed better than they did Lustig. Lustig was terrible in that first 6 months. Celtic were rushing him and he was carrying knocks etc into alot of games
Guy is 2 minutes in the door and the BBC Scotland numpty asks him if he'd like to move to the EPL,ffs.

Celtic's press officer needs to control press conferences better

Quotes pulled from the Celtic FC twitter feed...
NL: "We don't know where we are with Georgios - still don't have a clear definitive answer. Signs with Joe are more positive." (MH)

NL on bids for Samaras & Ledley: "Not to us directly. Certainly been contact through Georgios' agent but no confirmed bids for him." (MH)

I'll be happy with keeping Ledley & selling Samaras tbh
NL on Stefan Johansen: "He's a good footballer. Had him watched on a couple of occasions and reports were very good." (MH)

NL: "Well balanced, nice left-foot, very athletic, good range of passing and will add quality to midfield dept." (MH)

NL: "Had a fantastic season and got player of the year. He's type of player we are looking for and right age as well. "(MH)

NL: " (Motherwell) too early for him. Hasn't played since around November but he won't be far away." (MH)

Another left footed central midfielder? Lennon rule about not playing 2 left footers surely needs to be scrapped!
NL on Tom Rogic: "Interest from a couple of clubs in Australia and if it comes to fruition will go on loan until end of the season." (MH)

Hopefully he does go out on loan because he's rotting on the bench
NL on Callum McGregor: "Quite happy with situation. Another couple of players going out on loan." (MH)

NL: "Reason we put him out on loan was to get first-team experience & he's set bar for rest of young players. Reports very positive." (MH)

NL: "He's our player and ideally we would like to bring him back in the summer and see how he's progressed." (MH)

They better make that happen because McGregor is thriving and I've been bleating on about it for a good while now. Glad to see the issue being addressed
NL: "Adam Matthews is a doubt with a calf problem. See how he is tomorrow, hoping he will be ok. Rest are fit." (MH)

Only one player doubtful, thats great!
KC on finishing career at Celtic: "I hope so, one of the best clubs I have played for. Ticks all the boxes." (MH)

Looks like Commons will retire with us and Lennon says before he wants him as a coach when he does retire so that £300k spent on him is looking like great value for money!

    Celtic FC Amsterdam update

By: Newsroom Staff on 17 Jan, 2014 15:16
FOLLOWING the events which took place in Amsterdam in November around our Champions League match against Ajax, Celtic were inundated with complaints from fans regarding the conduct of the Amsterdam Police.

After the match, Celtic advised that they had engaged the services of a Dutch lawyer to investigate these complaints further. The lawyer, Jeroen Soeteman, has been reviewing the complaints passed to him by the Club so far and investigating matters further.

Celtic can now confirm that Mr Soeteman will be in Glasgow on Wednesday, January 29 and Thursday, January 30 to meet supporters with complaints, explain the process and discuss next steps.

The Club is happy to confirm that if, following those meetings, complaints to the Chief of Police are progressed by Mr Soeteman, the cost of the complaints process will be covered by the Club. Further details will be provided during the meetings.

If you would like to come along to Celtic Park with a view to learning more about the process and discuss lodging an official complaint please email jptaylor@celticfc.co.uk for details.

If you have already provided information, Jeroen Soeteman may be in contact with you shortly.

Jackson Irvine is keen to continue his personal development at Kilmarnock after recovering from a tough introduction to Scottish football.
His defensive error against Motherwell in August cost Killie the game, but he soon learned from the experience.

"I wanted to stay and keep trying to play every week and keep growing as a player," said Irvine.

"In terms of playing games, there's lots of things you learn," said Jackson.

"You deal with criticism, not just from the press but the fans, and getting in tough situations like making mistakes.

"Obviously I had my blunder against Motherwell at the start of the season. If I did that in an under-20s game it would have gone unnoticed, but when you make a mistake here you get punished for it.

"You don't want to disappoint the fans and the team-mates. It's a different level of pressure and that's just as important as the technical side of the game, learning to deal with that on the park."

Irvine forced himself to watch the mistake against Motherwell on television but has not spent any time dwelling on it, preferring to use it as a learning experience to improve his game.

"I didn't want to see it again but you have to pinpoint what went wrong," he said. "At the same time, everyone makes mistakes, from the top to junior football.

"But the scrutiny at this level is a lot harsher. I've had to deal with it pretty early in my career and that's a good thing.

"Luckily enough I haven't had anything like that again. The experienced players told me not to dwell on it because you will be nervous. That's how you learn - put it out your mind."

He went out on loan, cost his team in a match but now a much stronger player mentally because of the whole experience. Also learning alot more because of playing first team level at a high level and not youth or bounce games for the development squad. McGregor & Irvine seem to be much better off because of first team football. Jury is still out on Watt but I think he's learning more about himself out on loan than picking splinters out of his arse on the bench.

Celtic team to face Motherwell: Forster; Fisher, Ambrose, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Forrest, Brown, Ledley, Mulgrew; Commons; Stokes

Subs: Zaluska, Biton, Balde, Pukki, O'Connell, Henderson, Atajic

Very young bench but I imagine Biton Pukki & Balde will be the ones used barring injury

I dont think Stokes can complain too much, he went through the back of the lad and you open yourself to a red card.

I saw the handball, his positioning wasnt great. I think he was running not really looking in the direction of the play and behind another player just as it was handball. Cant comment on the save/corner kicks.

My money is on Willie Collum if that match ever happens

BTW,look for today's ref,Bobby MadMan getting 8/10 in the rags tomorrow.
This guy is a total dickhead,so bad that he'll be reffng our first ever game against RFC,mark my words.
Well keeper makes 2 great saves, both times the ball goes out for a corner kick, then FF let's a ball go out for a goal kick,he awards a corner, then in the middle of the park, the Well player hits the ball with his arm,no free kick, the Hutchison of Well has a 2 footed challenge,I think it was on KC,not even a booking,Stoksie has a tackle from behind on Lasley, https://imgflip.com/i/67kpv. Sent off, barmy.

He's a god awful referee full stop. He's had a nightmare the few times he's reffed our games this season, just totally incompetent.

The SFA dont seem willing to sort out the referee issue in Scottish Football. These guys are well paid, i.e. £1k for Premiership games (I imagine lower levels arent badly paid), they should be held to the highest standards possible an given all the training/support needed to help the situation

Say anything against them though and its putting "undue pressure" on them. Nobody else would get away with continuously being so poor at their job.

I agree that he's a shocking ref but I think I'm correct in saying that he's been demoted 4 times this season and each time he's been demoted he's handed a match involving RFC,why.
BTW Bob,he's a guy who was a member of the East Kilbride RFC supporters club who just happened to be the one Super Salary gave his shares to.

Fair enough,so how come Hutchison never saw a red for his 2 footed tackle then.

The name of the game is observation, making decisions & dealing with pressure. They are well paid for their efforts & often slow motion replays show how difficult things are for them but by comparison to other countries referees they seem lacking in some of the basics and thats hard to accept.

As I said, I didnt see the whole match so I cant comment. I saw the handball incident whilst i was trying to see the game and only saw the Stokes incident from the gif you posted.

Celtic players need to learn not to force referees into making a decision like that. Against better opposition we will get punished more (i.e. wins turning to draws and draws turning to losses) for those sort of things.

Neil Lennon has dampened speculation linking him with a move to Norwich City but admits to being "flattered" by it.
"It's just speculation but I think they won, so I'm delighted for Chris. I think he'll be safe for another while.

"He's doing a good job and keeping them out of the bottom three."

"I cannot help the speculation. I'm flattered, but he's a good man and a good manager in that job so good luck to him."

When Neil moves on from Celtic, and I hope its after he wins 10IAR, it will not be for a club thats hit the panic button

    http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spfl/celtic-a-step-closer-to-standing-areas-in-parkhead-1-3273300
CELTIC are set to become the first major club in Britain to allow designated safe standing areas in stadiums.

According to reports, the club has been given cautious backing by police chiefs for the proposals, who are understood to have softened their stance towards the plans. Glasgow City Council are also thought to have given Celtic the green light for the standing zones.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell has been campaigning for the introduction of standing areas at Parkhead since last year, and is keen to emulate successful deployments of safe standing areas in the Bundesliga.

The Scottish Premier League relaxed rules on all-seater stadia in 2011, allowing clubs to introduce standing areas like those seen in Germany.

Discussing the standing options in September, Lawwell said: “We think that some of the systems that are now deployed in Germany and other countries, it’s now time to give them a try.

“We feel there is a new vibrancy in football that has come from Europe and is now in the UK.

“It’s an energy and youthfulness and the safest way of being able to manage that is through safe standing. These are new systems that have come in that are extremely safe and we are very keen to explore further implementing that at Celtic Park.”

Hope it happens sooner rather than later
