GPU - 1GB DDR5 Vs 2GB DDR3 -WoW in 1920*1080

Hi guys,

Quick question. Just putting a new budget gaming computer together and trying to decide between two graphics gards. (Complete novice in the field)

At the moment I'm only playing WoW so I would be basing my purchase on that but will upgrade a couple of months down the line when I'm a little more financially stable.

I've been told that WoW isn't a particularly demanding game and I'd like a very high FPS rate.

Just going on that info, which would be more suitable? These are the two I've been looking at:

Asus Nvidia GeForce GT 640 Graphics Card (2GB DDR3, PCI Express 3.0, VGA, 2x DVI-D, HDMI, Nvidia 3D Vision Ready) - £68.98 or approx €84

&

Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card (1GB, PCI-Express, GDDR5, Dust-proof Fan) - £54.99 or approx €66.50

I understand that neither are top of the range components but it's a budget build and will be upgraded in the future.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

There is a bit of info on them looks like the GT 640 is the better option.

Monotype/Bloodbath will know better but IIRC the bang for your buck below €100-120 is pretty crap. Buying a GPU thats the bare minimum means as soon as a new game that you want to play comes out you need to replace it.

Maybe try a 650TI or similar. That'd give you a chunk more horsepower.

To answer you question DDR3 is a real GPU killer, go for GDDR5 all day long

If you are really going to cheap it out the HD7730 is about the best option, the GDDR5 version is better that a GTX640 and about the same price as a HD6670.

But that GTX640 is also the same price as a HD7750 which is way better than any of the above (And probably the absolute minimum card I'd recommend going for tbh)

just a heads up on wow requirements mister-m5..because wows graphic engine is so old its really the cpu that takes most of the load and not the gpu..ive tested this out over the last few years and i have had a gigabyte titan card and a msi r7950 in the machine running wow at different times.

AMD FX4300 Black Edition 4 Core (3.8/4.0GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 4MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 95W, Retail Boxed) - £77.45 or approx €94

The FX 6300 is a much better CPU its well worth another €6-7 euros.
The extra cores really will make a big difference in a number of games.
