Collection of washing machine.

I have an old washing machine I'm looking to get rid of, I know coolmine recycling will take it free of charge but I've no way of get it there.

Any suggestions?

If you buy a new one, I believe the shop has to take away the old one when they deliver the new one.

I could be totally wrong, but that's what happened the last 2 times I bought one. Or perhaps they were just being helpful!

No they do have to take the old one but it has to be ready for them too, they can't un-plumb it or anything like that. That or you can drop it down yourself.

I got my machine in the north so they didnt remove the old one.

If it's not working someone might want it for parts. I put up a washing machine last year on dublinwaste.ie but that now redirects to freetradeireland, got immediate calls looking to collect it, it was gone within 24 hours. If you're wary of letting a complete stranger into your house you could have it ready in the porch or something.

Thanks for that, I posted it at 12.30 today and at 4.30 had 3 people who wanted it, 8.00pm its now gone..........thank god.

You could have also left it in the garden with a for sale sign on it and it would be nicked by the time you came back from work etc.

And you always get a little bit extra off at Power City if you are a regular customer and ask for another discount.

The cost of travelling up north more than outweighs any possible saving unless you are buying at the top end of the market.

I bought a bosch over the net so I didn't travel up.

I disagree - often Power City is cheaper than other local retailers. However, it is worth shopping around.

Last time my washing machine broke I put it up on adverts for repair/spares and got €40 for it, collected from my door.
