    Hi Anne,

How did you justify that SWCo met the trading criteria in s626B?

Are you going into any detail on the tax implications for the Cork holding company and GFL's shareholders? I have not but I wonder is some commentary expected?

    I

Bar the issue of the losses, I'm finding that I'm discussing a lot of the same issues re Share Purchase v Asset Purchase on the second part of the question on GFL. anyone else finding this or am I missing something? Have found this assignment a bit of a nightmare!!!

Not sure about 626B for SWCo as i dont think its carrying on a trade, its only a software development company?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Anneb158

I allowed it as the group as a whole is wholly trading

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Anneb158

    I could be wrong!!

    looks like you are right....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Anneb158

Yeah,, I think spotting that the group is wholly trading is the red herring in that one as we will either say no it not trading company or just say it fulfils 626b cond without saying that swco not trading but group is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 deruler

I have the CSL part done, I have most of the GFL part done and am just doing SWCo now, then the executive summary ... should have it done by midnight.. yourself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Anneb158

I Have submitted it, but I keeping eye on here incase anything poops up that I have over looked as still time to improve, I reckon I have gotten the 50 marks to pass on it, hopefully I will get 10%, will be happy with that

I assume an executive summary is just a condensed version of the file note, giving the results of our analysis to CF team and a conclusion?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Anneb158

I googled it and got different methods etc, it is just a summary but they give different guidelines so look it up and see what suits you best, it only about 10th of the file note

how does the marking scheme work? If you get say 25% in the assignment is that 25% of the 15% you get. Cheers

Yes if you get 50% in the Assignment that means you get 7.5% out of the 15% available, which leaves you to get 42.5% out of the remaining 85% in May.

Was any of that Assignment covered in the lectures?!!

I have a tax and legal background and I am getting a bit older and more doddery now.

But I have to say I found the Capital taxes, particularly CAT total buggers in my time!

I suppose business and personal taxes are happening every day, whereas....events dear boy, events!

I wish you all the luck in the world. It's fantastic to see the commitment of you all to a very tough course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭satnavadays

Results for assignment and the exam will be released on 3rd March

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 693 ✭✭✭Uncle Mclovin

Thanks. I saw that date on the website but I was thinking that it was the date for the results of the interim exam.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 153 ✭✭dustyrip

Is the Part 3 Interim Exam on the 25th open book? Its just that Chapter 4 on Pensions is being examined this year and this area is vast!

Hey all, I'm hoping to do part 2 in April 2014 and i'm just wondering is it possible to get the course material anywhere before hand? Just to get started studying early.

Can they be bought second hand or off Aiti themselves without paying all the fee's straight away?

Do firms have to offer study leave with the CTA Qualification or is it discretionary?

Hi. I macked up today. I sat my assesment today, but instead answering question 1 on one booklet and question on another booklet, I answered both the questions in the one booklet. I am really worried if my assesment will get correctly marked now. The invigilator was cranky so and so and told my that my question 2 answer will be ignored. I am really worried as I have done a lot of work for this CA and can't believe that it would really not get marked... anyone? please put my mind at rest. Surely this must have happened before.

    How did people find it?

I wasn't sure on the overseas pension or the permanent establishment. I ended up going with member migrant relief for the pension S787M and s787N and said that it wasn't a permanent establishment as she was just doing market research and wasn't concluding upon contracts in Ireland.

Overall I didn't think it was as confusing a paper as some of the previous past papers.
