Mike Oldfield had a really good album in the 90's called Voyager...

    Must listen to it again.

I remember listening to an 8 track cartridge of TB's in the Brother-in-laws Gold Ford Cortina driving around going nowhere.

We thought we were so hip!....:D

The cassette was the size of bag of sugar!

Don't really dig Mike Oldfield either.

Maybe I am on a downer this weekend? :-)

Was the synth stuff any good?

Hmm...so WILL it be any good is the question!

Normally get nervous when i hear the word "synth". Guess it's a historical thing...:-)

Bless the lads, but miming wasn't their forte.

I'll say this for BBC Four, they don't feel compelled to have a misery slot every night.

Ah, Sparks. I don't know much about them but I did give them a slot in the OP of this thread :)

Neither was smiling! The synth players all look cross and intense.

I had a mad crush on the lad from the Human League.

We used to call him "head and a half"....

There may have been drink involved.

One of them should have broken character and given a cheeky grin and wink to the camera when the singer wasn't watching :)

It's all very serious, this Synth lark.

I picked the wrong night to claim BBC Four don't do Misery :( Tubs and Beefy will be planning Synth Nights very soon.

I'm trying to remember how we actually danced to this....

I think you just stood and swayed a bit.

Exhausting when you think about it.

Serious, broody, intense and substantial. Oh, and comically self important.

Wonder what they were like backstage. All laughs and giggles I bet.

Ultravox - Does this mean anything to you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

This was Number 1 for about six months.

    Same video every Thursday.

Now that was the real meaning of Broody.

    I'd love to see that.

Everyone trying to out-brood each other, till they just got tired and went home.

It reminds me of the Father Ted Disco where they only have one record

It must have been a hard auld station. Hopefully the DJ would have put on a bit of Slade or something occasionally to lift the mood.

For some reason I keep getting Fr. Ted in my head.

There was a little bit of head bopping as well.

And then the Mammy would expect you to get up for Mass the next morning........

    Everyone looks about ten.

    Dear God.

I think the Producer is partially to blame here.

Some of these bands had other songs which weren't as dour. I'm going to wait until the credits to see if a Mr R. Tubridy was involved, when he was moonlighting at the Beeb.

That's it! Or the talent show before Ted and the lads do the three Elvises.

I'm enjoying it Mr. Killjoy Skid....:)

Though they could have done a better job on New Order.

They sound as if they are in a cave or an RTE studio!
