    Gentlemeng and wimmins!

I have a question regarding taking a car off the road, at the end of this month the astra is coming off the road until further notice, on the form it says to be declared off road from the first day of whatever month 2014 till whatever month 20whatever, see the problem is I don't know when it'l be going back on the road so what do i put down??

As long as you want, up to a year though. You can tax it earlier than that

You can do it online in two minutes as well if she's still in tax, saves queueing for a while in naas

You can declare it off now, to kick in on the 1st of feb. Id do this instead, as something may crop up, or the queue may be massive, when you could be spending the time doing something more noteworthy:pac:

Its not worth buying a 166 unless its a v6. It needs that bit off umph. And you'd find it lacking majorly considering what you're coming from. The v6 engine is very reliable as well, requires less maintenance, faster, nicer sounding and doesn't drink oil.
Also they're both thirsty as **** (166man's v6 gives him something like 5 mpg less than his 1.6 twin spark) and its only an extra 380 a year to tax. For all that its worth it.
If you need convincing still, you're more than welcome to take mine for a rip up the m50 or something before the end of the month

Anyway, after all my discouragement:o if you are still interested, it was previously for sale here....http://www.adverts.ie/car/alfa-romeo/166/alfa-romeo-166-2-0ts-swap/4093345

Not the same seller unfortunately and sold two weeks ago for a good bit less (well swapped actually). New seller doesn't seem to have done anything to it either.

Anyway if you're thinking of looking, the reg is 01 MO 3673, as I don't think you can see it in the done deal ad.

Wouldn't be a change, it'd be an addition, wouldn't be buying for speed! Just thinking of a cool bus for comfort that isn't a 5 series or E Class...If I can help it!

You wouldn't be buying a 166v6 for speed anyway, but it'd have the comfort and the power when needed. They are an extremely comfortable car,
    I really like this: http://m.carzone.ie/used-cars/Alfa-Romeo-166-3.2-MANUAL-4DR/201344219314683

If it's convincing to buy an alfa you need, I can do that, but I'd rather convince you into having a busso

I thought it was bad enough when WRC started using them, but this is very sad alright!

There hasn't beena good day in f1 since they dropped the v12's, even the v10's were Ok.

1.6 v6's are just ridiculous when it comes to the top echelon of motorsport.

The most powerful F1 engines were 1.5L turbo'd 4 cylinder BMWs used back in 1986.

Yep, it's only really since 1989 that largish v12/10/8 have been the norm. Before 1989 most of the dominant teams were running 1.5 Turbos of some description.

Yeah but they'll never be allowed push 1450 bhp anymore. IItd be crazy if they were though!

New series on buying used cars on ITV4,could be worth a look.It has people helping Joe Public buy a used car. It's called I Want That Car.

BTW it's on atm & can be caught up on ITV4 +1.

Probably not, and for good reason, they'd be death traps. The V6's this year will put out similar BHP to last years cars, but vastly more torque. So much torque in fact that Pirelli are concerned their tyres won't cope with it all. There's also some crazy cool tech going in them, including the use of exhaust heat to charge the ERS, and the use of the ERS to keep the turbo spooled up to remove turbo lag.

Don't get me wrong I looking forward to it but just the noise will be missed :)
I'm also afraid that the fuel restrictions will see the cars being driven easily for most of the race with dashes towards the end etc. Could turn into a parade!

They do wear anyway. I know in my own the drivers side is nice and toasty. Got herself to drive one day and sat in the passenger side one and nearly burnt the arse off myself with the heat it was that much less used.

Could be worth having a quick look around the bottom of the seat. Might find its just a loose plug.

You were bang on. I went out again today and had a better feel around and found a connector that had just opened slightly. Popped it back together and now its working. Cheers!

Just on my way back home from Mayo looking at the potential new vehicle..... Rust held together with bits of car. I was expecting rust alright but sadly too far gone, so a nono for me. Pity, was a nice colour..... :(
