Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here's some snaps from my 200l mixed cichlid tank :) I'm sure the lake purists will be shaking with disgust about my motley malawi/tanganyika crew but rest assured, they'll be in two separate set-ups before the summer :) ... This frontosas are just 'resting' in my malawis' tank lol

Hi, I would of liked to go community myself, but from buzz's advice on here with my ph that was high he had suggested to go afcrain cichlid, because I'd have to alter my ph to have a community, but if you're going cichlid you're going to need to put nice rock & make some caves/holes in the thank
but I am happy that I went with cichlid as when their colours develop they're gonna br rocking fish!

My new betta is turning from black to blue. I think he's some kind of double tail/ Half Moon cross, if that's the right word.

Sorry about the quality, I recorded it on my phone. Good shot of the fins and colour at about 25 seconds

Aaaaand, now he's dead. Getting real tired of this 'lives a year, if you're lucky' thing bettas have going. One day he was swimming around like normal, the next he was lying on the bottom hardly breathing.

I'm very close to just pitching the 'Ube into the bin, but I'll probably put some cacti in there or something. Currently it contains a nerite snail and a cardinal tetra who was put there after all his fellows died and I decided not to get more.

I kind of want to keep it though. Maybe I'll stick some shrimp in there.

Sorry to hear that. My betta spends a lot of time wrapped around plants or stuck to the inlet of the filter. Had a bit of a scare the first time I saw him sucked up against the filter...

They are so beautiful, aren't they, but they do tend to fall asleep in weird places.

I've decided what I'll do with it for now; it can be a grow-out tank for my juvenile Apisto until I can move him on. After that, who knows...

    600L Planted tank, day 1.

Substrate supports still visible, as are some of the root stopper pots; but they'll all be covered within the first 40-50 days.

Looks great. What are your plans for the background? I think a simple black background would look great.

Just finishing setting it up. 160L tank. Just 5 tiger barbs and a ancistrus in it now. And a bad ass assassin snail who hitched a ride from the old tank to the new one on a decoration. :D

I'm planning on some more tiger barbs initially.

well so far so good anyway,i think they've learned already to leave it alone that its not food.i'll be moving them to another tank soon and getting shrimp for that one so the shrimp will probably trapse it round the tank.its much finer than i thought it was.i originally wanted a coarser blue stone to give a little lake effect but everywhere i checked always seemed to be out of stock.maybe i'll stick a little volcano decoration in and have it as my lava pit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,159 ✭✭✭daz801

Started the tank mid January and finally finished stocking it last week. It's a 30g juwel rio with an eheim classic 250 filter. Got a pleco, 16 cardinal tetra and 2 pearl gourami in it at the moment. The pleco graduated from my 10g tank that he had outgrown (I bought him with the plans of setting up this tank a lot sooner than i did) and I plan on moving him up to a 75g tank I'm planning.

Hi, I used a 'Limpopo black' aqua sand. Its a very fine gravel. Under this is ADA, and environment planted substrates.

That's come on really nicely eg6 vtec.

Next step: replace the plastic with real plants! (or do cichlids just destroy them?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 240 ✭✭eg6 vtec

they wouldn't last at all, some people have great success but its very rare, much easier to go plastic for now any way, my over all plan is to replace everything with slate rock in the next few months, aqua scaping is a never ending thing and i really enjoy doing it
