I love alfas but you've gone crazy right? It's only 150 bhp in a very heavy car! It looks rough as **** as well. He could have at least washed her.
I think those brakes are only vented as well. While they have the brembo calliper upgrade (nearly sure they're 305 and not 330mm like the gta) I got rid of my vented disks and put turbo grooved on instead. At least they actually stop the car now.

A 166 with a 3.0l engine dropped in, that had its suspension fully rebuilt 2 years previously, had koni fsd's with eibach pro springs, mimtec disks and ds2500 pads and was owned by the former ao rep for Ireland, and a well respected alfa enthusiast before him as well, sold for 2100 at the end if November. They're the mods that I can remember off the top off my head, there were plenty others as well.

If you want a 166 at least buy one with a v6 in her. If you actually want one, I'd suggest pming young dgt and you'd get a near proper alfa (no rwd:(), for a hell of a lot less.

No, I don't literally want that one. Just a 166 in black with Zender kit. I test drove one a while back, and loved it. It was in ****e though. And my other car is a V6, don't need two of them! :D

Surely your "turbo grooved" discs are vented?

What is it with the lazy people not bothering to wash the cars for the sh1t ad's they put up on donedeal.
If I want to look at an unwashed car I'll look out the window!

Lot of people think private sale will not be a success, they might put add up but it halfhearted, if not sell in few days they trade in to garage and agree with all friend private sale impossible, trade in only way :) My opinion for some of poor adds.

Just when you think youve seen it all :) Seen a Mondeo in a car park in Kilkenny yesterday. It was highly modified but the one thing that caught my eye was a black sun strip on the front window with "duratorq performance" written on it in a lighter colour. Maybe it floats some people's boat but it personally didn't do it for me. I definitely won't be rushing out to get one for the focus :pac:

Wow...how come done deal is so successful then. Would you actually put a car up for sale and pay 5 quid, if very few cars sold on it.
No one puts a car for sale and hope it not sell (except those forced by their wives to do so)

I've found very often that people start watching a car and stay watching until the price begins to drop. Once it's dropped a bit the then go after the car with a low ball offer.

Been there, done that, but it wouldn't be a reason why a seller wouldn't wash his car now would it?

I clarify just for you Scorthi ;)
See piece in bold, my opinion for some of poor adds :)

I not say very few cars sold on donedeal, also I not say anyone hope car not sell, I say they think it not sell. Plenty threads on here, people not happy to private buy, others not confident of private sell

Hope clarification good for you :)

I sorry if vented issue upset you, I thought you think your grooved disc not vented from your post, ha ha.

I don't see whats so funny? Why would I think they're not vented?
Clearly if I'm putting on 400 euro disks I know if they're vented or not. Jesus christ lad, I know what parts i put on my own car and take off my own car, so I don't need someone to come along and make it out like I think I don't.

Im hardly going to take off vented disks and put on solids now.

Im not the first alfa 156 owner to say its crazy to have the same brakes on the 2.0 L twinspark as on the v6, especially when you've all the power on front.

I haven't kept up with the full discussion. I don't see any reason why the car wouldn't be washed. Then again sometimes I prefer to see an unwashed car as that way I know what the seller considers dirty.

Robbed from bargain alerts. Might be worth picking up if you're going there anyway over the weekend.

It could take a few days to organise the housemate.

As for my motoring future. The Vectra has neutered my interest.

Its not worth buying a 166 unless its a v6. It needs that bit off umph. And you'd find it lacking majorly considering what you're coming from. The v6 engine is very reliable as well, requires less maintenance, faster, nicer sounding and doesn't drink oil.
Also they're both thirsty as **** (166man's v6 gives him something like 5 mpg less than his 1.6 twin spark) and its only an extra 380 a year to tax. For all that its worth it.
If you need convincing still, you're more than welcome to take mine for a rip up the m50 or something before the end of the month

Anyway, after all my discouragement:o if you are still interested, it was previously for sale here....http://www.adverts.ie/car/alfa-romeo/166/alfa-romeo-166-2-0ts-swap/4093345

Not the same seller unfortunately and sold two weeks ago for a good bit less (well swapped actually). New seller doesn't seem to have done anything to it either.

Anyway if you're thinking of looking, the reg is 01 MO 3673, as I don't think you can see it in the done deal ad.

Ring the shop and give them the 6 digit code and ask them to put one away for you.Had to do it last week for something else. They won't allow you reserve limited stock items.
