I wish I could remember the exact year but theres an episode of reeling in the years in the 90s showing a massive circus over the budget...in the black, cutting taxes, increasing welfare, giving out massive bank loans etc etc look at us with our amazing budget, Ireland is rich type cringey stuff. Then they show an interview with someone (a british economist i think, sorry my memory isnt great on who it was) pretty much saying that ireland better be careful with their new found wealth and that reckless budget choices now will only cause an economic collapse in years to come. Of course we all see it now but opinions like that wouldve been laughed at at the time.

On the topic of time travel and Bertie I dug this up! Point 2 is interesting.

    Year 2000.

The economist was Ray Barrell, the story starts at 9.18 in the below clip, Ray's sound bite is at 10.25

If there's one thing i'v learned in my life is you can't change someone. A man like Bertie Ahern is always going to be a slimy sly cnut. It just took too long for the people to finally see his true colours.
