[URGENT] question about carrier unlock on iPhone 4

    I recently bought a Nexus 5 to replace my iPhone 4 (out of contract over a year with Three).

    I Now wish to sell my iPhone and I have requested an unlock code from Three.
    My problem is in 5 hours the person I'm selling to is going to Egypt for 6 months and it takes 2 days occording to three to get the unlock..

    Will the unlock work if the phone is taken out of the country and will I receive a code or does it just become unlocked to any sim on apple's servers?

    Pretty sure the unlock on iPhones is all done by linking up to iTunes so it shouldn't matter where in the world the phone is

    Yes the unlock is done through iTunes servers.
