I meant in having this investigated.

Or are you saying that the people who sent this info to the EC are Fenians ? :pac:

You do know that the EC are legally bound to investigate any report of wrongdoing?? If someone reported Sevco as receiving state aid, the EC would have to have an informal enquiry, just as it is doing with Celtic now.

There is no formal enquiry at the moment.

I think, barring injury, both will end up playing regular UCL football for a club in a top league when they are older. I think VVD is a more mature performer for us than Wanyama was (Vic was younger playing for Celtic than VVD is now) but Vic was asked to do jobs he wasnt suited for.

    But does VVD like spaghetti?!

Looks like Celtic joins the list of clubs under suspicion of receiving state aid. With the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow, I wouldnt be surprised if there is something in it.

Given that we're now the 'Establishment Club', I'd expect nothing less.

    So what you're saying is, 'it's a conspiracy' ?

These are things investigated by the European Commission, as a fall-out from the Labour/Co-Op Bank thing. You really think they'll jump on this for something a guy on the internet says ?

    Obsessed?

To build a solid "establishment", you need a sound foundation:pac:

His comments suggest he's not overly interested in a move just yet but we'll struggle to hold onto him for long. He really looks like he has the talent to go to the top and I don't think a move now or in the summer to someone like Arsenal or City would be great for him as he's probably spend a bit of time on the bench before breaking into the team.

Either way it's another great signing by Celtic and when he does go we'll be well compensated.

Easy have the attitude he does have in public until an actual bid is made. What happens behind the scenes probably wont be known. Celtic have 18 months to convince him to sign another contract otherwise he should be sold (i.e. 2 years left on his contract)

Yep it seems the time we'll have with good players will be less and less as time goes on. :( That's Celtic's challenge... unearthing good talent and trying to hold on to it for as long as possible. It's getting harder every season. I think we'll hold onto him for the moment but lose him in the summer. He's turned out to be a great buy.

Transfer fees are all well and good, spending them is the issue. We got £20m between Wanyama, Hooper and Wilson - but we're heavily restricted by the wages and the ****e league. Have to just keep looking for gems like VVD I suppose.

Have we ever explored the possibilty of partnering officially with a Premiership club, from the point of view of player loans, developing players etc.?

As the club found out from the last transfer window, buying potential doesnt always have instant returns. Hopefully that will turn into better resistance from the club. Efe Ambrose is quoted in public as saying the club should do everything to hold onto their star players. So if deals for Samaras, Ledley & Van Dijk cannot be sorted, you will be adding Ambrose and a few others to the list of talent on the conveyor belt out of Celtic.

Striking the correct balance between telling players they arent going anywhere and allowing players to leave when they ask/feel they've nothing left to learn is getting harder & harder. Again, Celtic can add stability to this business model by better developing our youth prospects.

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/coventry-city-boss-steven-pressley-3003392
COVENTRY CITY boss Steven Pressley has opened talks with Celtic about a January move for Dylan McGeouch.

Record Sport understands Pressley is considering a bid of around £250,000 for the 20-year-old midfielder.

City are operating under a signing embargo but if rules dictate that a permanent deal can’t be struck this month, Pressley will still attempt to seal an initial six-month loan.

McGeouch will be gone in a heartbeat. £250k for a player that didnt look out of place against Real Madrid 18 months ago. Its almost criminal what the club is doing with our young players.

    http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/watt-makes-his-peace-with-lierse.23131085

Tony Watt has admitted that he was persuaded to return on loan to Belgian club Lierse by the Celtic manager Neil Lennon despite the striker saying before Christmas that he was homesick and being embroiled in a series of disputes with coach Stanley Menzo.

At least Lennon has gotten it right with one of the kids

    No Rangers fan,seriously?
They'd be doing cartwheels all the way down Edmiston Drive,an absolute certainty.
Confident,I'm 1000% confident of it and there's not even a single Celtic fan out there who's in the least bit worried about it.

And who appointed you as a spokesperson?? I'm not worried about it, wee bit concerned though that there may be something in it

CELTIC (4-2-3-1) Zaluska; Matthews, Ambrose, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Biton, Brown; Forrest, Pukki, Boerrigter; Balde

Subs: Fasan, Ledley, Commons, Mulgrew ,Fisher, Atajic, O'Connell, Chalmers

Interesting midfield & attack at least

    1-0 Pukki

Strike from about 20 yards across the keeper into the bottom corner

**** missed the goal there who scored it

    Pukki thanks

    2-0 Bamba (OG)

Cross from Izzy, Bamba puts it past his keeper under pressure from Balde

    EDIT

    2-1

Terrible defending by Celtic. All dreaming of HT

From what I'm seeing here Balde is worth a run in the first team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    3-1 Balde

Some finish from Balde, top corner from 20 yards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,093 ✭✭✭eire4

Great to see both Pukki and Balde getting goals. That will do their confidence a world of good hopefully.

Not much,Balde could have had a hat trick up until he was subbed, good goal though.
Last half hour was just players being subbed though young O'Connor was unlucky missing a header by inches 5 mins after he came on.
The game is back on at 4.30 tomorrow afternoon, the other semi is at 6.25.

I saw the best of it so, grand! :D

I'll catch 60 minutes of the other match tomorrow night aswell, should be a glorified training match with both teams looking to avoid injuries for their European campaigns

I saw the same rumour a couple of days ago saying that Celtic were about to throw in a bid so I'm sceptical about it

Read somewhere that Lennon, after this evenings match, confirmed a bid had been made
