Mounting a toiletries cabinet on tiled wall

Hi All

I am mounting a relevtively small cabinet on a tiled wall. Can you advise whether i would need a particular drill bit, to prevent the tiles from cracking?

Also, is it advisable to use wall plugs, rather than just using screws alone? Do i need a particular type of wall plug?

Are the tiles ceramic or porcelain?
Whats behind the tiles, concrete wall or a studded partition?
You'll need wall plugs if it's a block wall or butterfly bolts if it's studded.
Porcelain tiles are a lot harder than ceramic and will need a special drill bit.

Thanks for the response. ceramic tiles and a concrete wall. so i assume in this case, i wouldnt need to worry about cracking the tiles with an ordinary drill bit?

Put a bit of masking tape on where you'll be drilling and mark the hole on it. It'll stop the drill from running all over the place when you're starting. You could also tap a little mark on the exact spot with a masonry nail to do same thing.
I usually start the hole with the hammer action switched off and then when the tile glaze is penetrated switch on the hammer.
Red wall plugs and 6mm drill bit should be good enough.
