At the moment the country is being battered with storms causing floods and accidents. Thousands with out power and damage widespread.

In the UK the government have held emergency meetings with warnings to the public and a media outlets reporting on the storm.

    In Ireland?

Rte news currently talking about Anchorman!

Come Sunday Night/ Monday morning a bigger storm will hit us, where's the warnings???

Are so in Ireland we are still required to tune into the radio, the 24 hour news channel is for what? Currently talking about themselves in the golden days.

I'm bored of all this storm talk.

    I'd rather hear about Anchorman.

    Maybe not Anchorman 2, though.

Could it be that the storm is going to hit the UK and not Ireland?

So it's on the radio and the internet.

But nothing on the 24 hour news channel.

Someone should tell Sky and the BBC that instead if reporting news on their 24 hour news channel they should be reporting trivial things such as Anchorman interviews.

You didn't say anything about the 24 hour news channel in your OP.

Never mind the news. Why have weather?

    Monday - Rain
    Tuesday - Rain
    Wednesday - Rain
    Thursday - Rain
    Friday - Rain
    Saturday - Rain
    Sunday - Rain

Not on any sky package then

There is more to life than Sky!

Rte also broadcasts Rte one in HD but not on Sky.

I'd expects Rte News Now to be added to the Sky entertainment package eventually, they could place it next to Dave.

Perhaps they gave the weather warning and a report on the flooding twenty minutes ago, and will come back to it later and repeatedly. And now they are doing some other stories interspersed with some pre-recorded featurettes.
That's the nature of 24 hour news channels until a big story starts unfolding.

I suppose my point is the radio is much more pertinent to rte news for the majority of people than saorview.

    From the map:
I want that black spot to hit Ireland, it will feel so overwhelming.

Perhaps but that's because Rte appear to have more interest in reporting the news on the radio instead if actually showing the events in real time on their 24 hour news channel.

Been watching there channel for over half an hour and this is the schedule so far,

    Anchorman report and interviews

    Report on Irish dentists

Interview and reports about RTE in the golden days

Cracking stuff, what news reporting is all about!

Actually the Anchorman 2 reference is quite apt, bearing in mind it's a satire on what a nonsense 24 hours news is without a big news story

    (WHHOOOMPH....RED BANNER......BREAKING NEWS.......DAVID CAMERON SAYS BRITAIN'S ECONOMY IS GROWING!!!")

And to be fair Ireland am did about a three minute segment on the current flooding and the coming storm.

I wonder what the viewing figures for rte news 24 is compared to say the top of the hour news on radio 1

Thankfully I get my news from elsewhere and I'll only be venturing out to ensure my roof tiles are still intact!

Had this with the floods in Dublin a few years back. Half of Dublin was shut down with flooding, yet the Radio stations just kept going with normal programming. Only Dublin City kept up live reporting of traffic and road closures trying to help people get home.

Instead of sitting inside and complaining that there's no weather news, go outside and experience it first hand.

Seriously though....you've spent more than half an hour watching RTE News Now?

    Wow.

Who watches the news for over 30min O_O????????? Nothing else to do?
You got the internet, want to see news that interests you use it.

It's entirely possible that the other stations know people will tune in to Dublin City FM for traffic updates so they played music instead.

So basically you want RTE 24 news to report nothing except the storm just in case you turn on the TV and have to look at something else for a few minutes before the next headlines come on again?

You want the channel called 24IrishFreeView - it's your channel where you get to decide what's on all the time. You should set it up - it'll be great I'm sure.

There is an RTE news channel so they can show it in the airports instead of SKY news or BBC24

Nonsense. They do the same all the same. Any big event, road closures or traffic and it goes unreported. If they know a large audience will want something, it makes no sense to put something else on.

Actually I'd like a 24 hour news channel to report the news. At the moment the news in Ireland is Storms, flooding and coming storms.

Not Anchorman, dentists and reporting about yourselves!
