Trying to buy an MK rose gold watch online as a Christmas present but hard to decide between the models. I have got it down to two, the 5569 or the 5218, anyone got a preference?

The woman hates diamonds/diamontes on anything so all those options are out. The only other apart from the above two is the 5314 but that looks were shiny?!

My mum has the 5569 above but to me the glass face looks very big almost like the big glass they used to put in glasses years ago for people with very bad eyesight! thats what it reminds me of anyway but the 5218 looks nice.

Can anyone compare those two models for me as soon as possible, I have to order tonight to get Christmas delivery.

    Thank you

5128 looks a bit more 'readable' and seems to have lume - but I have no idea how good it is.

Of the two, I'd go 5128. I prefer the Oyster style bracelet to the Jubilee also.

Michael Kors seem to be fashionable at the moment. Are they any good or is it marketing hype?

I decided not to go with either in the end as now she's not sure if she likes the date to the side...which limits the options further and after a quick google search the 5799 has the date to the side as well  but thanks for the suggestion

They are good insofar as they are a watch and are good at telling the time!...What other factors do you consider make a good watch?

Yes they are fashionable here at the moment but MK is a huge brand in the states and has been for a long time.

I think what made them take off here was the rose gold, they were one of the first to bring a rose gold watch to the market at a competitive price.

Also, I would notice an MK watch on anyone within eye distance.

AQ - we have a slightly different take on watches hereabouts. We're interested in the heritage, expertise, craftsmanship and the workings of the watch itself - the movement.

Michael Kors, Armani, Hilfiger etc all produce low-cost fashion watches which appeal to a mass-market audience - and there's nothing wrong with that.

For around the same price as the Kors, you could get an entry level Tissot - a Swiss brand since 1853.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tissot-Ladies-Watch-Classic-T0332101101300/dp/B001VL9B0W/ref=sr_1_65?s=watch&ie=UTF8&qid=1387619527&sr=1-65

It depends what you're after, and each to their own. There's a watch out there to meet every need. This small corner of the interweb has its own take on watches and some members here are very knowledgeable, others (Like me) are rank amateurs who have accumulated a little knowledge, but we enjoy learning about horology.

Hope this helps and good luck with your search.

They are just plated rose gold? lots of other fashion brands have similar offerings.

To the person who asked, they are just a fashion brand, no real horological value but if you like the look they are no better or worse than the other similar watches from Tommy Hilfiger et al
