I was listening to this debate on 4fm last night

I agree that families on the dole should be more responsible and not just have large families when they are dependent on the state to live

Accidents happen but for cases where families are on benefit for a long period and continue to have kids then i think they should be looked at

    What do you think AH?

I know the UK want to cap child benefits at 2 children ,
You'll get if for your first 2 but after that you get nothing which is right ,
One thing having a safety net another thing supporting lifestyles based off 5+ kids

By debate, you presumably mean a pack of jabbering baboons being goaded to embarrass themselves on air by some identikit simpering South Dublin wannabe?

How strange. All families with children are eligible for child allowance, whether on the dole or not

No people should have as many kids as they want.

Every cent thats paid in child benefit is a cent that isnt going to the bondholders

If the world were a logical place people wouldn't have more kids than they could support. So for people on welfare that would be none.

But you can't let the children be neglected because of the parents stupidity.
Maybe have unemployed men castrated if they breed more than one child.

    I work. Wifey works too.

    Not Mickey Mouse jobs.

We have 2 kids & can just about afford it.

Still, it's grand the way that some people who don't bother working or paying Taxes can breed like Rabbits.

    Great country really.

If you can't afford to feed then don't breed.

Which they have regardless of the number of children they have. So what you're essentially saying that these people who are in a worse financial situation than you are having the gall to procreate. The bastards

    hmmm...not a bad idea....

Mandatory chemical sterilisation from age 15. If you haven't had a job by age 25 the whole thing comes off.

I think you're onto something Teddy

We need to invent a tablet to make all humans infertile until you come to a point and want kids so you take another pill to reverse it.

    My idea. Patent pending

It really isn't. Accidents can happen, and having an abortion, particularly when it requires travelling to another country, isn't something everyone wishes to go through.

No it isn't good for people to have a lot of children they can't afford, but there are never any suggestions as to how this can be curbed.

Cut off benefits - the children (whose fault it isn't) are deprived.
And forced sterilisation - this isn't Saudi Arabia and the reality of such a system would be forcing people into a hospital and restraining them, then carrying out an invasive procedure; it's an idea that's often suggested but not thought through.

True, but if that happens 5 times you're seriously taking the piss

If you could also find some incentive for people to actually take it.....

I'll give you a good idea to help : invent something that makes semen taste of chocolate ;)

It really is none of my business how many children other people have, be they rich, poor or somewhere in the middle.

The whole system is pretty much set up to make sure working people with wife and kids will always be just scraping by. I dont envy you but at the same time I dontthink there should be a cap on the number of kids you can have just because you're on the dole. Not everyone on the dole is a waster

Accidents can happen for 1 or maybe 2 children...but for 3,4 or. 5 kids it would mean their as accident prone as mr bean

There are many reasons why somebody would choose to have children or not. Its not just an economic decision. Also most unemployed people are not scroungers as many here seem to think and would hope to be back in employment asap.

    I'll be minted
