I pick up after my dog, but because Dublin Corporation (or as they have bafflingly renamed themselves, 'Dublin City Council') have taken away three litterbins in every four, I often have to carry along the package for a kilometre before finding a bin to put it in. Not healthy; I assume there's some leakage of particulates at least onto my carrying hand.

Try growing up in Killarney where there is horse shite everywhere..

Horse droppings don't harm anyone, because horses are herbivores. Pick them up and put them on your garden; people pay good money for horse manure.

(I remember walking along a Kerry road with Kruger when I was a kid, and when I diverted to avoid stepping on cow droppings, Kruger grabbed me by the arm and told me to breathe deep: "That's the smell of wealth!")

Don't think I've ever seen anyone pick it up.

You must be living under a rock then. I pick up, and I know plenty who pick up. It drives me fuucking mental when people try to tar all dog owners with the same brush. It's not in any way embarrassing to pick up after your dog - why would it be?? There should be more bins. Our local park has no end of signs telling us the gruesome end we shall meet if we dont clean up - but a bin? Not a fuucking hope in hell. I usually end up walking half a mile with a bag of sh1t.

People are just dying to pounce on dog owners, I've had hysterical (usually women) shrieking at me for not cleaning up before the pooh even hits the ground - do you want my dog to wear a nappy? The best was the day some bint had a go at me for not cleaning up a heap that she had just assigned to my 5kg terrier. The dump actually looked like it had come from a horse plus it had clearly been there a few hours. I just looked at her and said, "if that came out of her arse she's in trouble - her's is the one over there, you can tell it's the one she just did because there is steam coming from it" :D

I was walking our fella a few months back, and he did his business right up on the hedge on the side of the road. We live rurally, and it was well off the road, so I was going to leave it. As he was squatting, this young one on a horse pulled up beside me, and she proceeded to give out yards to me about just leaving the dog poo there. Just as she was getting onto about how disgusting it was, her horse dropped a load right in the middle of the road. Needless to say, I was less than concerned about her pithy little opinion, and told her to jog on.

I assume she had a large poop bag with her for such an event?:P

In Baldoyle, the lampposts scold you into good citizenship:

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/talking-lamp-posts-mean-80pc-drop-in-seaside-dog-fouling-29838361.html
THE lamp posts are biting back, it seems.
Audio devices installed on poles have resulted in an 80pc drop in dog fouling on Baldoyle's seaside walkway.

Whatever about children, I have a neighbour who is wheelchair-bound. It's almost impossible for someone with no legs to get out of the wheelchair to clean dog****e off the wheels. It's nearly every day this happens, as the footpath on the way to the shops is nearly always coated in it.

It gets onto their floors, etc. As if they don't have enough to put up with.

I heartily applaud people who do pick up after their pets. Good guys all round.

My parents live in a new housing development that's become very popular with dog walkers who don't pick up the poop. People come from all over to walk their dogs there as it's a nice walk. The place has become a toilet. My dad was telling me that a neighbour of theirs approached a guy, whom he recognised as living on the far side of town, who walks 2 large dogs which leave very large 'deposits' behind them every day.

He complained to the guy about it and the guys response was 'What am I supposed to do with it? He can buy 2 Bernese mountain dogs but he can't buy some plastic bags to clean up after them, wa*ker:mad:

Wonder why people would be so keen to walk their dogs in a housing development.. We always try to walk ours in a park/woods etc. The only thing worse than people spending money on pedigrees - people spending money on two and getting all the responsible dog owners a bad name.

Where i used to live this old asshole used to go into peoples front gardens on the estate to let his dog do his business.
I caught him once and went ballistic on him. He just walked off but never did it to my house again. Think he tried to play the "i'm old and therefore can do anything" card..

I have a little bag holder attached to the dog lead so always have a bag with me. Very easy thing to do and I don't see why other people don't pick up after their dogs.

This doesn't stop me getting abuse from people when walking my dog.

Picking up after my dog a group of teenager hurling abuse at me. They then literally started throwing rubbish at me as I didn't respond.

Walking my dog along not a bother to anybody. The dog then starts sniffing the grass verge as they do. A woman came out of her house and told me to
    "Move along".
I was really puzzled and asked her "What?"
she "I didn't want dog fouling near her house.
My response" No worries I'll pick it up if he does but he has already gone" Showing bag in hand
The woman precedes to say how disgusting I am and that there shouldn't be any dogs allowed in the area. I just laughed at her and ignored her. She still glares at me when ever she sees me

Walking with dog a car pulls up to me and rolls down his window. "Have you seen the signs over there?" First words to me.
Me "What? Which signs? what are you talking about?"
Him "You should go over and read them" then drives off about 5 feet to his house.
Look over at the signs and realise they are the clean up after your dog signs. So I go up to his car tap on the window explain unless he has seen me not picking up after my dog he has some cheek accusing me in a roundabout way. He claimed he saw me with my black dog just leaving it there. I had two brown dogs that I always walked together and didn't borrow a black dog at any point. He kept accusing me of this black dog.

Dogs has a poo I am in the middle of taking the bag off the holder to pick it up. I hear "Wait a minute Mary I want to make sure this man is doing the right thing" shouted from across the road. I precede to pick it up and shout over "I can bring it over to you to inspect too if you would like"

There are numerous stories of being accused and blamed for not cleaning up after my dogs. It is getting increasingly worse. Unless you are 100% sure do not give out to a dog owner because the next person to accuse me incorrectly is likely going to tip me over the edge.

I think you were far too nice to all these people. I know exactly where you are coming from. Dog owners, like smokers are just an easy target. It doesnt matter if you clean up - people just want to have a go in order to be self-righteous and arsey. I've been attacked over heaps that could not possibly have come out my terriers backside, as well as getting grief for sh1ts that are still mid air. If we made as much noise about pools of mucus/snot/vomit, dirty nappies and broken glass the world would be a noisy place indeed. Oh and in my area, not only are people arsey about dog pooh, they are also illiterate it seems, leaving around hilarious signs about "been videoed" - wtf? You are been videoed -ooooooh! hahaha

I've to bring extra shoes in the car as the footpath every night is covered in crap and lighting is poor. Fingers crossed I won't need to use them. Counted 15 last week. Never seen the likes before.

How did you manage to count 15 if the lighting is too poor to see them? :D

Dear God, people have little to be worrying about!

Cats are meant to be outside, Its in their nature, Keeping a Cat indoors all the time is cruel and selfish..

I know you've only had 12 years to get used to it but why is it baffling?

    Pure laziness.

This is something you HAVE to do if you decide to get a dog.

It has improved dramatically in the past few years, I can't remember the last time I stepped in some.

The way the area is laid out links to a big stretch of straight and quiet road. So it's dry, well lit and fairly safe for walking. You could have a really long walk without much traffic. I think that's what makes it so popular.

it's just a case of ignorant knackers. I firmly believe in wiping the owners nose in the mess.
