That's a bit like saying different species don't exist because we're all alive.

Races are differences between humans in terms of appearances, languages spoken, culture, geography etc. It's not a derogatory word and it doesn't imply that one is superior or inferior to another in any way.

I had an encounter with a racist in London back in the early 90's. he was a scary individual. When he realised I was Irish he calmed down and backed off, turned out he only had hatred for the English honkies.

I had no idea at the time what a honky was.

Yeah got a taxi in dublin a few years back and the driver was ranting and raving - saying some pretty horrific sh!t... not just casual racism (if such a thing exists) this was focused directed race hatred - Pretty mental when I think back on it to unload that kind of vitriol on a car full of totally unsuspecting passengers (many of whom I didn't know very well hence totes awkwy mo mo's all round when we got out).

Anyway I get my mouth shut coz I was scuttered and wanted to get back to the gaff. I would have recorded him on my camera phone and put it on youtube except camera phones weren't invented back then and I didn't know what a youtube was.

Race and ethnicity are both social constructions. Tribal and ancestral origins are responsible for aesthetic and cultural similarities.
