So instead of reading the info book which explains everything you just won't bother and hope someone provides you the correct answer on a forum. Part of the process is being able to read from passages and be able to extract the necessary info you Require to provide the correct answer. You won't be able to ask other people online during the exam.

Apologies if I come across as rude or snide but it is important to read that booklet and all other documents provided to you. You would be surprised how many people f*ck up from not listening or reading, as I've said a lready Ive been involved in many campaigns and not as a candidate

The booklet does not give a e mail address for problems like this one so I think you should read it again

So you want them to have Seperate Email adresses for each specific problem that they think candidates might have. gardarecruitment@publicjobs.ie is the mailbox for ALL queries. There are also phone numbers provided.

It says in the booklet for queries call 0818332333 yet you said that if that other person read the booklet they would find the email address. It doesn't give any email address for queries like that persons. So in other words if you read it yourself instead instead you would be better than posting comments that is no help to anyone what so ever. That's the problem here to many being rude instead of helpful.

That number is listed along with a 01-858 number which gets you through to PAS and also the said Email address. Pretty sure publicjobs website also states that they can be emailed at info@publicjobs.ie. the staff are excellent at getting back to people just make sure you provide a contact number

Maybe on the web site but not on the booklet which you stated.

Word of advice here for the lads/lassies, if you have any queries in relation to Qualifications, make contact with PAS and you will have your answer.

None of us know for sure, and by asking here, nothing certain or good will come out of it!

It seem's(to me) like people are starting to hate each other!

This is the point I'm trying to make. People would rather ask on a discussion thread than actually enquire with the employing authority or take any heed of written info provided by them. Its one of those irritants that really gets to me.

Typical Irish make a balls of the most basic part of the whole recruitment which is the 'educational requirements'. In fairness it's amazed me the amount of people on boards and in 'real life' that's confused by it. I think people are more shocked that LCA and Foundation Irish has been dropped more than anything else.

Publicjobs.ie are shut for the weekend. Anyone else think these organisations should be opened whilst recruitment is on going? Would stop a back log of emails and phone calls.

How has anyone made a balls of the recruitment. Its pretty straight forward. Minimum requirement is standard leaving cert.

Yea they should have a 24 hour call centre open and every time a ridiculous email comes in a big red flashing siren goes off. Which would be every 2 mins by the looks of things

They've obviousally made a balls of it considering the amount of people confused. Maybe i'm wrong and people didnt bother their ass reading the booklet. Which is the most likely thing that's happened...

My gripe is the upper age limit!

I think it's ageist - in this PC cuddley all embracing era we now live in!

I'm 43 and have done triathlons and can wrestle with the best of them and I have built up a bank of wisdom with age and experience.

Anyone else feel that age should not be an issue?

Btw - good luck to all aspiring wo(men) in blue we need good people out there on our streets

i dont think its to do with fitness or health

i think its the 30year service contract and pension entitlements etc

Yes it is, if you join at 43 you wouldn't be able to leave until you are 73 to get your pension! You need to serve 30 years minimum in the force. Unless u want to quit of course

I hope it's more to do with not reading the booklet than actually not being able to understand it.

If this many people failed to understand the booklet then there's not that much competition after all :P:P

Its got to do with the mandatory retirement age etc etc

I don't think it's fair and I do agree there is untapped potential with older candidates. The reserve doesn't have the upper age limit and I thought they might have stretched it but not this time.

I think they can and could, raise it to 45? They'd still get a good few years out of applicants then, even though they are aware of the future re pension or other
