    Hi,
Could someone tell me if you can claim the VAT back on the christmas decorations bought for the office?

    Thanks

Why not? To my mind, in tax terms, there's no difference between the cost of the Christmas decorations and the cost of a pot of paint to improve the look of the front door.

Depends on the goodwill of the IOT - in this instance, I consider that he/she might be considered a scrooge for disallowing such expenses!!!!

If you could them under staff entertainment costs, then maybe? It's not exactly entertainment, but helps boost staff morale. It's worth a shot, and like the above post said, is probably going to be down to the discretion of the individual who deals with your expenses claim.
