Very good value if that's all thats wrong :)
Does it have AC? Can't tell but it looks like it might.
Please, whatever you do ,do not buy a MAF from a scrappy.
It's worth buying new as at least they have a warranty

Also find out when the belt was last done?

I don't know if you saw my earlier post, but this car sold in clare a month or so ago asking 350 and popped up in Meath that evening asking 800 odd.

Not saying anything wrong but my advice with buying an alfa is buy one thats looked after, or it may severely burn a hole in your wallet

no indication when belt is done.so it must be done when bought.
just to be clear,im not buying it.only because its 3 hours away from me

    No worries...

For anyone who is thinking about it, go over it with a fine tooth comb (as you should with any car) and budget between 400-500 euro or so for the belt in the likes of TI or Don Baker.
I wouldn't let a mechanic with little experience of alfa's near one (they most likely wouldn't have the tools for it anyway) and if its done wrong, it'll cost a bomb to put right.

How much is a TB change on an Alfa Scortho?

Since I will be likely buying one sooner or later would be useful to know. :pac:

I'll pull out receipts for the gtv later...but between 4-500 on a twin spark and on the v6 don baker quoted me 700 ish.

The twin spark needs it done every 36000 miles or every 3 years, while the v6 and diesel is every 60000 or 4 years. It sounds expensive for the v6, but the kit from the uk is 350 pounds. The amount of labour involved on the v6 change is massive though.

Obviously if you're doing it yourself it's a good bit cheaper.
If you're after an alfa, there's a good guy down in Wexford.

Any decent mechanic worth his salt should have no problem in changing a belt on a 4cylinder twinspark(can'tncomment on the v6 though). although from what you say in another thread don baker seems to be reasnoble enough price wise and is good so no reason not to take it to him if your within a reasnoble distance of his workshop :)

Any reasonable mechanic worth his salt should be able to alright, but few would have the cam locking tools which are essential.

The belt on my v6 was done by tippex and within a few months the timing was out:rolleyes:

Also remember that on the TS Alfa the variator is advised to be changed also when doing the belt.
If the variator starts failing (diesel sound from the engine) then the belt has to come off again.
When I had the JTD it was roughly a 4 hour job, a bit of a tight squeeze due to the size of the engine but as Scortho said it's every 60k but I always did mine earlier.

I like autos tbh .. you probably wouldn't see 30mpg in one of these though I'd imagine.
