2002 Honda Legend, 3.5 V6 automatic, tax until the end of the month, €950

I nearly like this one more than mine, for the colour mainly.

My reasoning behind not going near it would simply be that the "owner" may not want anyone on the net seeing the car as it actually is.
Mazda RX-8 with a knackered engine for free is a tad weird for me

I can't see on the ad what's broken in that car or what needs fixing.

    Lovely one though, really nice!

I doubt it's actually free, I'd say he just wanted to catch people attention. Seems to have worked! Haha

The tax system in this un-fair green isle has out the made that fine motor uneconomical to own and drive. €1494 a year here. £225 for same motor in England.

    "yesterday car was perfect"

No sir, yesterday the car wasn't "perfect". Yesterday it was in the same condition as it's in today.

That car was posted on here four or five days ago.
Apart from the minor damage it looks like a cracking car:)

if I bought that car id stick it in a shed for about 6 years until it's eligible for classic tax:D

Sometimes I really wish I had a garage, more extensive collection of tools and more mechanical ability :(

If I'm right that has xenons, judging by the blue-ish appearance of the lights.
You could also in theory slap in a v6 there :D
Failing that, if you are very good with a spanner then I'd say a new thermostat, gasket set would probably set you back 200e

If that was a 156v6 Id turn up on his door tonight with the money....
    But a 2.0L twin spark 166, nah

I'm not normally a fan of the 166 (think the headlights look way too small for the front of the car) but in black with those wheels I'm definitely liking that one. Black hide helps too. Wonder how much an engine swap would cost?

If you can do the work yourself, then 3-400 for an engine, gearbox, loom, edu (you'd use a donor car), if you need to get someone to do the work for you, at least another grand.
But thats going for a 2.5
If i was going to go to the effort of v6'ing a twin spark, it'd be getting at least a 3.0L and you'd be lucky to find one of them lying around for less than a grand.

If its to replace with another twin spark, you'd be looking 200 for an engine, plus a belt to do.
Again if your doing it yourself, you'd probably be looking at another 200 quid for everything including variator and pump.

Or... if you feel daring, the V6 turbo engine :D only sourced from the mainland though :(
2.5 would probably be the easiest engine swap.

2.5 and 3 would be the same would they not?

I could be wrong but I believe the 3.0 would be a much tighter squeeze whereas the 2.5 can fit quite easily.
Plus I think the 3.0 is a much heavier engine so a complete overhaul of the suspension and brakes would be needed.
I'm open to correction on this though

Im nearly sure they're the same size externally with the 3 being bored and stroked more. The 3's inlet runners have a wider diameter however.

If Dans wrong I'll buy you a pint:pac:

I was looking into seeing if it would fit in or not a while ago, primarily because to the naked eye, they're identical. But I decided to spend the money on suspension and brake upgrades, but half that budget is now going on getting the gtv on the road:cool:

Although most will say your better off dropping in a 3.0 l v6 as opposed to a 2.0 turbo

I don't know... the sheer torque of the v6 turbo would probably outshine the 3.0. Isn't the 3.0 roughly 220bhp?
Remap the v6 turbo and it's quicker than the 3.0 :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Scortho

I'd whack a turbo onto the 3.0 l if I got a chance...I'll let dgt figure out how to turbo his one, before I go letting him put one on mine though...:pac:
