There was obvs overcrowding in that section on the stand, it was clear from the TV pics.
Not everyone in that section was GB so you cant blame them without evidence, and a broken seat in their area is not evidence

The GB also released a video after that game "all the seats were broken" showing all the seats and their was minimal damage to a few seats nothing more

Again I'll say it. Someone breaks your seat, which can be easily traced back to you, and you dont go tell the stewards in an attempt to clear your name?

If you are a GB member, knowing that another incident will see you banned outright, you'd be trying to clear your name immediately, no?

Playing Barcelona tomorrow night. I'd like to see him play the sort of formation that has done well in the last couple of league games, or something different than what we usually play with in the CL.

I'd like to see him look to the future, play Biton from the start, I think he's good enough to play regularly right now. Brown will be back so he will play. Leave out Samaras, we know what he can do and I've got a feeling he's going to be leaving, him and Ledley.

I'd go with Brown, Mulgrew and Biton in midfield with Beorrigter on the left maybe and Commons behind Stokes or Pukki or even Balde. Try some new players and systems and go out on a high with a good dynamic performance.

He played a 3-5-2 the other night against Motherwell with Mulgrew as a 3rd centre back, might see Lennon going with that kind of formation as well. Might be the way he could go in the future.

Biton & Samaras missed the game at the weekend with a virus. They'll be doing fitness tests. I cant see Lennon going with anything other than his strongest and most trusted 11 barring fitness problems. I think he'll want to see how far that excellent run of SPFL form is from one of the best sides in Europe. 3-5-2 was largely ineffective against Motherwell whilst it was used from what I was told. Its very much a work still in progress

I can see Ledley returning to Cardiff for a bumper contract as a free agent tbh. I think we'll hold onto Samaras. I'll be very disappointed to see Ledley go, it will rub salt into the wounds that it will be a free agent or compensation for a precontract.

Ledley came to Celtic as a free agent, I think he has it in his mind to leave in the same way and pocket the money for himself in terms of wages. Hope I'm wrong but it looks that way. Cardiff among others would be interested in him.

Mulgrew's best position is center back, he looks much more comfortable in that position. I think Lennon is looking at ways of playing him there in a 3-5-2 formation. He always picks Mulgrew anyway, mainly because he's versatile and nearly always available, he might as well pick him in his best position.

No doubt others will be interested but playing for Cardiff in the EPL will be a big draw for him.

I was watching MNF and Neville/Carragher were going through Roberto Martinez tactics against Arsenal

The 2 CB's would split at GK's etc and Barry would drop in between them to give an option for them. The FB's would always stay pushed forward, the two attacking midfielders/wingers stay close to Lukaku up front. The showed examples of Barry & McCarthy dropping into space where you'd often see the FB's retreat to whilst telling ensuring that Oviedo & Coleman stay pushed up. It was a 4-4-2 that changed to 3-4-3 with ease.

Mulgrew would be the ideal person to do the job of the DM/Barry but its everyone else that need to get their jobs right for it to be effective. I always thought asking Izaguirre & Lustig to go from FB to essentially a winger in a 3-5-2 was too much ground to cover for a high tempo game but if Lennon copied that system, it would work very well with the players we have.

Was it not a 442 diamond we've used recently in the league?

Anyway I hope we go for it tomorrow night, as much as a draw in the Nou Camp is a fantastic result I'd rather just see a good game of football. My interest in the club is at an all time low right now. I'm usually planning a game in the New Years around now but I wouldn't give the club the steam off my piss at the moment.

Police expect to make "a number of arrests" in relation to the disorder at Motherwell's Fir Park during last Friday's match against Celtic.

Hearing account that there wasnt enough stewards & police at the match. Then again, what would have been enough. Hopefully everyone at fault is held responsible .

I think too much importance is given to the 'formation'. At Motherwell, it was two at the back, two in the middle, Commons in the hole behind the front two with Lustig and Izaguirre providing the width. Doesn't really matter how you define Mulgrew's position on paper, his role(s) remain the same He'll probably be at left back tomorrow without Izzy (which is a shame cause he's been really good this year), with Kayal coming in I'd guess.

Samaras has to come in, if fit. He's our main attacking option in Europe getting in behind the right back (Alves' out I think). Struggles in the SPL against packed defences but with Barca having all of the ball, hopefully he'll have space in behind.

Quietly confident of a good game (no idea of the result) but Barca only need a draw so they might not be in the best frame of mind.

Lustig has opened contract talks before going for hip surgery. Clever boy! :pac:

Great news on Lustig. So dependable and his reading of the game and positioning make everything look easy, cutting danger out before it's there. Must be why he's not picked up by the English/European media; never flash but always solid.

    Celtic Football Club @celticfc
#Celtic team to play Barcelona: Forster; Lustig, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Ledley; Matthews, Brown, Biton, Boerrigter; Samaras, Pukkki #UCL (MH)

    Celtic Football Club @celticfc
Subs: Zaluska, Stokes, Commons, Mulgrew, Balde, Atajic, Fisher. #UCL (MH)

Mulgrew on the bench??? Jaysus. Commons on the bench as well. Izzy is suspended for this. It'll be interesting to see how they line up.

I wonder is Ledley playing LB judging by the way the lineup was worded.

Big vote of confidence for Pukki, hopefully he can live up to it.

That's the starting line-up, but I wouldn't be surprised to see:
    Forster
    Lustig Ambrose VanDijk Matthews
    Brown Biton Ledley Boerrigter
    Samaras Pukki

    Once the game gets going.

As usual we'll know about 10 mins in whether Sammi is going to be a threat or an embarrassment. And Lennon will wait until the 87th minute to put Stokes on for him and people will point out Stokes didn't score :P

Might be 3-5-2 with Ledley and Matthews as wing backs. He has rushed Matthews back for this, he's been out for 7 weeks.

We could easily have played Sammi and Boerrigter on the wings as well

Samaras behind Pukki, could easily be the other way round. Neither of them are an out and out striker.

I know that but sometimes he's played up front.

Players havent turned up tonight, not yet anyway. Will get a hiding if we are going to be half assed about it.

We're a fcuking shambles tonight, only Brown has turned up.

If you're not motivated for a game vs Barca in the Nou Camp there's something wrong with you.

Abysmal performance from Celtic. Barca barely even breaking a sweat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Should have went playing indoor myself, more fun. Celtic have been septic, alot of empty jerseys out there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Lennonist

Ambrose havin a mare. Get him off put Mulgrew on at center back. nothing to play for this game is the main problem.

    What an embarrassment

    What an embarrassment

Absolutely. I don't mind the scoreline so much, Barca can do that to far better teams than us. It's the gutless performance that's pi$$ing me off, some of the players have been embarrassing.

I feel sorry for Brown, Van Dijk & Forster when other haven't bothered their hole.

Let's hope it does not turn into this
