Maeve Lewis talking about religious people going to the courts, but what if Fr Reynolds hadn't?
The accuser RTE, were prepared to go all the way with him to defend the lies.

Yes there are abusers who do this to the victims, but it has been shown on more than one occasion to work both ways.

Jesus was given a chance to save himself.

    What?

    Never really got that.

It's still a mystery to me. I especially never understood it when I was 6 or 7.

You'd have to wonder whether the bishops or the priests around the country give a toss about these reports.

Incredible to think these people had such a hold on a country up to recently.
Fair enough they did some good but it's an incredible comment on what kind of country we were/are to be in thrall to such people.
Yet again, all i can ever think to myself is "stupid fcuking country".

    What?

Maeve Lewis was saying about the courts being used by the religious, she failed to mention that wrongdoers on both sides have tried to defend the indefensible, whether than is someone who has claimed to be religious but is really just a sex offender and taking the victim(s) to court making them out to be liars.
Then we had cases where priests have been falsely accused - one of these cases on RTE who refused to acknowledge their wrongdoing until it was found the child was not his from a supposed rape, and the woman who they said the priest had abused, said that priest never abused her.
Another case a priest was taken to court and he pleaded his innocence - it ended up with the accuser going to prison because the priestr in question had never abused him.
Maeve lewis was complaining about the accused using the courts but in some cases it was justified, she gave a one sided argument.

You aren't comparing like with like. Libelous comments cannot be compared with the sexual abuse of children.

Jesuis the new Adam, Mary the new Eve.

Adam was punished with death coming into the world, Jesus had to die so he could defeat death by the resurrection.

It was in the old testament how Jesus would die, just like how it was in the old testament how the Jews would become hated and would be hunted down before the nation of Israel would come back into existence.

You're the one who got personal. You must suffer from short-term memory loss or something.

FYI, I meant one of the people that don't like Garda criticism, not an actual Garda.

    OK.
    So rubbish really.

Edit: actually what really pisses me off is how betrayed and disillusioned decent religious people (like my mother) must feel because of such behaviour.

I just want to see Vinny lay into him.
He's been on a few times before IIRC.
Maybe he's recovering after Hook and Cooper.

Rabbitte was quoted as saying that "Keavney would join Hezzbollah if he thought it would further his career" (or words to that effect) :pac:

But when we watched prime time investigates, how many people who watched that believed Fr Reynolds was innocent?
I didn't, thought he was guilty and the accusers had done proper research, rather than using license fee money to do a program based on their prejudices in the RTE Prime Time Investigates team.

I'd rather admit to being a salt of the earth dyed in blue wool Jackeen with a horrible accent than ever have the misfortune of coming from a place like Mayo. ;)
