I don't understand - It reads as if the horse owners beat the horse to death. Why? Whats in it for them???? They already spent a lot of money on petrol driving the horse from the first location to the second location. It looks like his pal is in the field beside him. Why didn't they just coax him out with some food. A few nice tasty apples?

While I don't "understand" teenage louts doing it - it makes more sense to me that a couple of sociopaths high on meth would do something to a defenseless animal than the owner of the animal - he forked out a pile of money for the horse so he obviously wanted him in the to begin with.

Lame horse which they decided to dump rather then deal with humanely at some sort of expense?

Sounds like they were going to let it lose and drive off.

But then when it wouldn't get out of the trailer they forced it out by accelerating off with the door open (probably breaking one if it's legs) and then decided to beat it to death to shut it up.

What a horrible bunch of people. Takes some lack of ethics and disregard for life to do that.

Sounds harsh, they're worth next to nothing, kids have been swopping horses for 2nd hand Playstations.

I worry at times that i will kill someone if i ever come across something similar..
I think reading reports like this can really twist people and temporarily loose any hope in society.

These incidents make no since to me at all, Same as situations where old people are attacked on the street for no reason.
Its not that i am not aware that there are twisted scumbags out there and i have met plenty but what's the point in it all, Suffering for the sake of suffering.

As a society i don't think we can let this trend continue,I am of the view that anyone who commits a act like this should be given a life sentance..
And what's harsh about that, Anything less is spitting on most of our values.

If your not adding to society you should not be allowed gain from it.

everyone in Wicklow knows who did it they are from an adjoining estate they weren't dumping the horse there. ffs

the horse wasn't killed by these "people" but left to die by them ,
there is such a simple answer to the problem of roaming horses, trespassing , criminal damage animal cruelty etc ,

chip all non farm animals , anything above the size of a cat , make the owners responsible for damaged caused by or too the animal. more lazy political bungholes and bowing to the person who shouts loudest about their culture and their rights.
