Visited the Stone Brewery in Escondido and had an amazing Ruination IPA with Blueberries, Mangos, Cherries and Green Chilies on Cask.

Wasn't brave enough to sample a 3 litre Double Bastard though:

Anyone heading to the Stone Barrel Brewing Co. Launch night in Brew Dock tonight? Nearly finished a college assignment and thinking of rewarding myself later.

Did you go in the end? If so how were the beers?

Yeah was there few an hour or two. The beer is grand. More an English style IPA but good beer all the same.

Well described seanah, i stayed and tried it. Missing hop bitterness! Its there first beer so theyve done a decent job with it. Best of luck to them.

Interesting, I got a bottle of their Boom at lunchtime in Carryout and will be having it with dinner tonight.
Looking forward to having it with a curry.

Bought a bottle of the BOOM IPA to try it out, by the sounds of it it's quite light on the hops though so I don't think I'll like it much. They have 4 Tuatara APA (330ml) for a tenner in Redmonds gonna pick some up later on. Bought it earlier in the year when it was on special. Probably the nicest pale ale I've had this year. Strongly hopped, without being bitter, very well balanced. Just wish it wasn't so expensive!

Just in drinkstore there, was informed they'll have stone beers in next week, 5 varieties, ruination being one of them;)

That means the Bear Republic beers will be in too, nice one.

Bear Republic is in already at least in Redmonds and Drinkstore. Bottling date is late September, so not that fresh.

Heading into the Black Sheep I hope they have Foam and Fury left!

Considering it came from fecking California, it's not exactly old either, it's less than 3 months old now, it's as fresh as you're going to get it in Ireland anyway.

Had a bottle of the stone barrell stuff, not bad for a first try, could be hoppier andaybe a little under carbonated for that type of beer.

Followed it with a couple of founders all day, which is fab imo.

Heading off to a 40th now in a hotel, so swill for for me for the rest of the night....

Foam and Fury wow just wow.

It reminds me of some of the Thornbridge beers like Jaipur etc.

Best beer made in Ireland this year.

It's great alright. Still say it's a toss up between it an Amber Ella though.

If it was me I'd be wanting to drink a beer bottled late September a some stage in August tbh.

They told me they'd be in yesterday. :( I was holding off getting my Christmas order until they were in. Might just place the order anyway.

Oh good Jesus, I'd better ring them and get some more details and pop in!

Under-carbonated? That's an understatement. Just poured mine and had two mouthfuls and it's completely dead. Nice though, reminds me a lot of St. Austell Tribute with a slight taste of apples from it. If it had a bit more carbonation, it would be far better IMO.

I have only had Jaipur in bottles but think that Foam and Fury on draught utterly kicks bottled Jaipur's ass. Dare I say it but I think Jaipur is a bit disappointing.

Actually saved the breakfast stout and cracked open a hop rod rye. Giving the ruthless rye a run for its money :)

A bit random comparing Foam and Fury to Jaipur, both great beers but nothing in common...

Opened a Boom, same carbonation issues here. Whoever is doing the bottling for these is doing some damage to the image of new brewers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Ah yeah, Jaipur and F&F are a fair bit different alright.

I miss Humming, by Anchor. I don't think they make it anymore, so I grabbed a Liberty Ale, but alas it's no Humming. I need to get my hands on their Porter again, it's beautiful.

    Fullers Old Winter Ale.
Very nice. These guys really do make some great beers.

I bought a bottle of Fullers Imperial Russian Stout tonight. Comes in a box, so it must be awesome!

The racer 5? It's a decent IPA. Would definitely buy it again hope it becomes a regular over here. More the merrier.

They were held up in customs, according to the boys in drinkstore. They only actually landed in their warehouse tonight.
