PTO chipper from an old forager

I have heard of a guy down near Killorglin who converted a pottinger flywheel type forager for chipping branches and stuff dont know how succesful it was . But my thought is that a cylinder type harvester would be stronger for that kind of use though however there would be a lot of issues to sort out, the feed rollers would need to be slowed down and maybe allowed to open up more than for grass and the safety inplications too the feed would need to be stopped instantly if someone got gaught up in the infeed also purpose built wood chippers (for solid wood not just willow branches and stuff) are usually really strongly built using much stronger components than even in a self propelled forager

there was a conversion of a JF FC 80 precision chop harvester for this job a number of years ago in practical farm ideas, a welsh magazine, There must be plenty of them in hedges or sheds around the country, there were 3 or 4 of them in every parish in the country 25 years ago. From memory they didn't use the gearbox and drove I t direct with the tractor put to the side of the machine if you get my drift, bearing in mind it was a side mounted machine. I might try and find it in my advanced filing system ha ha.
