Runners: Do you have to take an oath when you join an athletic club? I imagine you do and I imagine it to be as follows:

"I do solemnly swear that when I run I will wear my florescent vest with pride and will run along country roads in the dark four or five abreast. Then when I enter the town boundaries I will continue to run on the road even though there is a footpath there" Yes a FOOTPATH for FEET.

I am sick of it... and yes there will be gob****es, yes gob****es who will come on and say nooooo we always run on the footpath and when there is oncoming traffic we are single file...BULL****. Tuesday and Thursday evenings is athletic nights here in my town and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed. I was lucky tonight there were only four I met abreast on the road, later on it will be large groups on the roads, not paths with no consideration to traffic coming along. It is a miracle so far that a car has not ploughed into running groups as they come round a bend and there they all are in their florescent vests ..guess what they won't protect you against a car.. and of course it will more than likely be the driver blamed when it does happen.

Cop on and use the FOOTPATHS.

Which is why none of them have been run over yet...what I am saying is they should not be running in groups on the road it is unsafe, they have running tracks fields footpaths etc,

Running is enjoyable. Cannot stand the obsessives though. You know the sort. Looking like something out a concentration camp video - all bones, taut skin and bulging eyes. Men with spider legs and no arses, women without curves. Joyless and empty running machines. From health and exercise to obsessiveness.

Have a slice of apple tart you miserable sh1tes!

You can run but you can't hide... because we're not playing hide and seek.

They'll meet an oncoming artic on a bend some day and stopping won't be an option. The gimps who wander along the roads here every evening in the pitch dark(no footpaths and not even that much road) wearing dark clothing rot my waffle. If you hit them, you're the wrong one yet the feckers are like trying to spot a ninja in a hotpress.

first they came for the cyclists - I did not speak out

When they came for the old folk - I did nothing

Then they came for the runners........

Then they came for me, and I stood up for myself and didn't need anyone to speak for me.

    And a roundabout for cyclists.
    Both categories are darwin contenders.

Four or five abreast? You wouldn't be exaggerating there OP?

I find it is much easier to run in the bicycle paths instead of the roads.

Tarmac isn't as harsh on the joints, compared to concrete.
