For €99.99 you can get a GoClever 7" in Tesco, with QuadCore and 1gb ram! (as opposed to Lidl Dual Core and 512mb ram)

But we're talking about the Aldi one here, which is 7" quad core and has 1gb of RAM plus 8gb memory.

    Hey lads,
How easy will it be to get one of these on Sunday do you reckon? Will I need to queue outside in the morning before Aldi opens?

    Cheers,
    M

If you're not there at 7am, forget it. As with last weeks combo TV, I'd expect rationed stock levels for each store. Great if you get lucky thouh

Aldi is my favourite shop right now (has been for a few years), but I don't touch the own brand electrics. I have tried a few different things over the years and brought them all back.

On a recent one of these tablet threads, i mentioned the Archos Cobalt and it's new iteration, the Archos Titanium which is obtainable for circa £120. I have used the Cobalt and it and the titanium are both well reviewed. Also worth thinking about is the new Tesco Hudl which is around the same price currently, but may well be available for circa €100 around christmas - the archos cobalt above was £49 in tesco last christmas.

I don't think there are any Aldi stores in NI, just Britain.

that's odd because once you enter the 99 euro price range I've found ALDI electronics to be excellent (certainly better than the SilverCrest stuff you get in Lidl)

Back massager, dehumidifier, plus other high price electronics are superb and get regular usage..plus with a 3 year warranty you have nothing to worry about as they're great for refunds/replacements

I don't touch either Aldi or Lidl - though, I don't think I have purchased at that price level - I think somewhere around €65 odd was my highest purchase and I haven't purchased anything remotely electrical in at least 3 years and probably more.
I tried HDMI players, AV transmitters, portable vacuums, various tat, although in fairness, the wireless headphones I got are still going strong.

I'd be wary of tablets in general though, I purchased one online last year, decent spec, €80, I sent it back straight away. A bad tablet is pointless and with so much choice out there at that price range, I'd always go for something which is reviewed.

Haven't had any hassles with Aldi electronics over the years and it seems to be decent for the price. However if you can stretch another 40 euro I would go for the Asus MeMo HD 7- one of those cash back thing in Currys so final total will be €139 after 20 rebate. Choice of colour and spec is resonable- my sons got them as an early Christmas present and it seems to be quick and responsive. Also in Amazon Spain for €144 delivered.

Aldi recently sold a HD 108P TV which has received terrible reviews from customers since its sale. But the issue I have is how much stock each store has of these special items

Last week they had 10 or less of those TV's . People queued for over an hour before the shop opened.

    Will this be the same?

Don't bother with the Lidl one. It's not similar on the inside.

    Big difference between Aldi's' 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and Lidl's' 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM

I wish 8" was standard size, been looking for 8-10" for ages passing up bargain 7" tablets over and over again because its too small.

Groupon have a 9" one today 90 Euro , don't know if its any good though.
Screen resolution putting me off a bit. Only really want one for Netflix, would love the bigger screen, but probably no point having a big crappy screen.
Does anyone know if 800 x 480 resolution would be noticeably poor ??

That (Groupon job) really is a low-spec tablet. I'd avoid it.

Most of the 9" tablets you'll see are really 7" spec and res with a bigger screen. I haven't really seen a good cheap one yet.

Seems to be a lot of bad info about re Lidl tablet. It is actually a TREKSTOR® 7" HD Quad-Core Tablet and has a 1GHz processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage (but with a microUSB slot for more).
I got one each for my wife & I and we are delighted. I was at the door of my Lidl store at 08.00 on Monday but there was no queue - I got my two tablets and that was all they had - I cleaned them out!!!!
It works fine for all I've tried but in view of the stock (or lack of it) there is not much point in expanding any more.

I've just been reminded that I bought my first home computer almost exactly 30 years ago - a 'Dragon 32'. A comparison is interesting:
    ________________Dragon 32_________________Trekstor 7" tablet
    Processor________Single core 8bit @ 0.89 MHz___Quad core 32 bit @ 1000 MHz
    Memory__________32 kB_____________________1,048,576 kB
    Internal Store_____None______________________8,388,608 kB
    Screen___________None_____________________Yes
    Video____________256x192, 9 colours__________1280x800, millions of colours
    Cost____________ £200 (£570 now)____________£90

    Say no more!
