Will all the posters who were bashing Tallaght over the horse story be bashing Dundrum\Windy Arbour now?

Supposedly there's a media blackout around what's going on... Twitter conversation with Newstalk journalist: https://twitter.com/paraicgallagher/status/408281804223696896

Let's hold off. We don't know for certain yet if the gun man is from Tallaght. He might be from Finglas.

Media blackout just means that the cops aren't talking to the journalists - probably because they have better things to be doing.

Someone has good feckin eyesight if they can tell the calibre from the shots being fired at you is all I'll say.

Garda rolling around with a cap in his ass going "tis a 9 mil for sure lads, she does'nt have the heady kick of a 45 or the lingering finish of a 22"

Hey, there's guns involved, and 320 million Americans haven't been blamed yet. Wait your turn.

    Booooring.

Garda stand-off with armed man in Dublin suburb comes to an end

THE ALL CLEAR been given following a tense stand-off between an armed man and gardaí in the south Dublin suburb of Windy Arbour this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Farranboley, a quiet residential estate, after a man was seen in the area with a firearm. Locals reported he had fired a number of shots. He was said to be in a “distressed” state and sitting in a car.

The situation began at around 3.30pm, when the first shots were fired. Gardaí said they were discounting earlier reports that the man had fired on members of the force.

One eye-witness told TheJournal.ie that he saw 19 squad cars drive into the estate. He said there was also an ambulance and a unit of the Fire Brigade at the scene, but that paramedics had been told to stay clear of the sealed-off area. The garda heliciopter was also in the area.

There were further reports of gunshots at around 5pm, according to one local. Gardaí had requested a media blackout as they responded to the situation. They confirmed to TheJournal.ie at 5.39pm that the operation had come to “a safe conclusion”.

Windy Arbor is a rough aul kip
Lol, you've some strange idea of what constitutes rough kip! Takes a fair bit more than a few council houses to make a place rough.
