Our tree goes up on the 14th on the dot every year. Looking forward to it. Bit disappointed I only have one present to wrap this year, though. Love doing all the wrapping!

But I have seen plenty up, chavtastic.

It's not chavtastic to have them up once December hits.

Not yet, we usually put ours up on the 8th of December, which is a Sunday this year so that's bang on!

If people are putting them up now its probably all fake ones.

The build-up to christmas is being dragged out way too long.

The earliest I seen this year was Nov 1st - I sh1t you not.

Why is it chavtastic? What a stupid thing to say.

I put mine up at the weekend as I had a friend and her kids around and they loved doing it. Seems lame to feel you have to stick to a certain date. Do what you want.

No, and I won't be putting one up. No decorations or lights either.

If you live in your Mothers house, then that house ain't yours anyway.

Bought the tree today and will put it up in a few days time! They cost enough, might as well get the wear out of it.

Is that for a fake plastic tree?

Convinced my landlord to put ours up for the toy show. Himself and my other housemate weren't overly happy about it but its very pretty.

At home we will not be putting it up until the 15th, aww :(

8th of December is our tradition.
Just curious, but where did the 8th come from as the widely accepted "official" day for putting up Christmas decorations? It seems a completely arbitrary number to me...?

Mine went up last night; bit earlier than usual..I normally erect* it on the 8th.
The family across the road have a huge neon purple tree that's lighting the whole street. Could probably toast some Batch against their window if the fancy took me.

Must be like the fella next door to me so, he puts up so many lights on the roof you could nearly see it from the moon.

I'll probably put up the tree around the 15th.

We used to get the 8th off school. I assume that's why it was normally done then.

8th December is a holy day - feast of the immaculate conception if I remember correctly. Day off school for many kids. So it became a traditional preparation day for Christmas - put the tree up, head into town for shopping, bring kids to Santy. Also known as Culchie shopping day!!

Next weekend, usually takes me 2 to 3 days as I always have a few festive drinks while putting it up and it takes a bit longer. There's nothing that says Christmas more than waking up under a fake bare Christmas Tree with nothing but your socks on.

Some people put their trees and decorations up way too early imo. The earliest I seen this year was on 5th January FFS. Crazy.
