Ironic that this thread is currently sitting just below the one about the cruelty to the horse in Tallaght.

It was only a matter of time before the vegetarians i.e. self-righteous moralists, felt the need to tell us they don't eat meat, declaring their superiority over us heretics to nature.

I'm merely clarifying my position that I don't currently eat it but have no particular objections to horse compared to other meats.

But you just go right ahead with your thanks whoring drivel.

Cut the attitude and stop baiting people.

Yep, it was ok, only did it as I had never tried it before. Same with kangaroo & springbok.
Actually want to try dog......or at least the little fckr in the doge meme....I'd enjoy every last mouthful!

Wouldn't eat a horse I knew, but otherwise it's open season.

Documentary from the plane crash that the movie Alive is based on. The survivors eat the dead people.
Yes, I have seen it in several documentaries or factual type programs now.

wiki has a good page about taboo food & drink, has a section on horse.

Paddy jack that's in the temple bar farmers market on Saturdays sells horse meat skewers and the like cooked on site.
Very tasty , like slightly sweet steak

Also sells horse steaks to take home and cook for yourself. Delicious.
I usually have them with honey roast sweet potato and carmelised red onion.

Ate raw horse (basashi) in Nagano about 7 years ago. Thin slices of meat, just tasted like meat.

I had it once in Japan. Have to say it was the most delicious tasting meat I'd ever eaten. I'd eat it again, no problem...

Colleagues in Brussels tricked me into eating horse salami once. Did not like, was very stringy.

The supermarkets over there are mad, there is an entire horse section...

All this is grand. I've had live octopus and dog soup in Korea. Kangaroo in Oz, god knows what in China and Thailand.

It's grand trying it all. Horse is no different. It's when the live insects come out that I start feeling sick.

    Live octopus?
    The poor feckin octopus!

Octopus was actually really nice. Get used to feeling it move around and sucking your tongue. :D

Some sea food in Korea was seriously enough to put you off eating for life though. There's this thing that just looks like a cock. There is no other way to describe it. I felt sick even seeing it.

Pork guts and stomach tasted pretty nice but I could never stay at the table if it was getting cooked in front of me. Wayyyy too much smell going on :(

So you ate cock and got your tongue sucked by an octopus?

Coulda done that in Tullamore, no need to go to Korea :p
