You should be able to ring your local pizza shop in Dublin or Manchester.

When then ask your name then they should understand what you say.

So, don't go for odd , ethnic names .... especially if you like pizza.

    My name is niall

I have to say it 4/5 times when using it to book anything. I actually have my name as dave in the local chipper

    Hardley a strange name

My name is fairly common but I also have a name I give when ordering things (I believe it is called your Starbucks Name). Mine is Belinda - they always seem to understand that one for some reason

Besides the stupid names famous people give their children it would have to be:

    Mary
    Margaret
    John
    Paul

I was playing a game in work. Well, game is not the right word, but a few of us were coming up with names that were also verbs.
Eg. Rob, Jack, Mitch, Marshal, Carol etc. I think we ended up getting about 50 or so.

Right, so basically all of the names.

Personally always felt sorry for anyone called Alastair, Stanley, Cian, Cillian, Nuala or Mairead.

Jack has also got to be the most cliched name out there.

Oh come on, there hasn't been anyone given either of those names in the last fifty years....or has there?

For boys: Herbert, Cuthbert, Mossy, Horace, Norris, Ambrose, St. John,

For girls: Doris, Gladys, Noreen, Doreen, Margot,
    Marian, Audrey
Audrey's still very common for baby girls in America I think.

Ah now, surely there's a difference between names that are weird in 2013 and names that you just don't like? Those aren't exactly out of place today imo.

Friends called their children in the last year - horrible horrible names

    Edie
    Molly
    Mylo

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Saw someone I'm acquainted with had a baby and called him Odin. I can't decide if that's ridiculous or awesome!

I'll let him know you don't quite approve ;)
