    these aren't riddles ):
They're a play on accents, and the pronunciation of letters.

I was hoping for some kind of rhyme or something.

Does a man have to bring a fox, chicken and grain across a river as well?

I used to hate those fcuking things.

    Eleven is a race horse
    Twelve is one too
    Eleven won one race
    Twelve won one too.

Sorry, was that meant to be hard? It's certainly very old!

Here's one my Grandma used to ask...

    Through a rock
    Through a reel
    Through an old spinning wheel
Through a little bag of pepper
    Through an iron nailed door
Riddle me that or leave me alone

A moth was the old answer to this but some used to say a maggot. I always preferred lightning myself.

    I don't get it?

    but...how?????? S:

It's from an archaic "mummers" theatre piece that's full of these rhymes. The character saying it is a Jack Straw. The origins and answers are long lost in time. It's more a nonsense rhyme than a riddle to be pedantic about it.
