how tight to graze?

sheep cleaning up paddocks nicely, was going to graze a couple of paddocks lightly so there is a bit of grass left so spring grass should start easier..the problem i am having is that a lot of paddocks were heavy and there is good bit of grass lodged after the sheep have been in...so should i graze the paddocks tight to remove all dead/lodged grass as this will be a nuisance coming spring or should i graze lighter but leave all dead/lodge grass in the field?? i go for grazing tight but would like some opinions. thanks
