Yes, it is....if you want to be good at it. It can also be very time consuming, especially when you have a member or members who deliberately set out to cause hassle whilst technically staying in the rules.

Even on a small forum like 'Martial Arts' which I moderate it can be very time consuming ~ I couldn't begin to imagine what its like to moderate AH in terms of time and patience.

The OP asks if anyone has met a moderator in real life, well this happened last night..

I was on the door of a pub/club and a guy was talking to me about martial arts, another lad joined in and the first guy goes on to tell him that his "best mate Makikomi on boards.ie is........" ~ so I didn't say a word until he went back inside.

Turning to the other guy I ask "you use boards.ie?" (he confessed he did) so I says "Hi, I'm Makikomi and I haven't a f*cking clue who your man is" ... We'd a great laugh about it

I met Makikomi a couple of times. He didn't beat me to mush either and I'm sure the temptation was strong.

The only thing that písses me off about modding is the weekly skype meetings. The admins get real arsey when we dont hit our targets

I actually work with a boardsie. Only figured who he was the other night from the cries of retail thread. He dosent know who I am but the bond is strong

Pay is nice but the ban quota failure fines are too excessive. I think we should action a strike someday. Get those admins to respect us properly. Also, the rotas are worse than hospital doctors. :mad:
